Percy whipped around, putting himself between Annabeth and the voice. Annabeth let out a small gasp, and he felt her hide behind him.

The voice was from a tall Gryffindor boy, with blonde hair, and a scar running across his left eye. His eyes were a sharp blue, a contrast against his pale skin. He had a raised eyebrow and lit wand in hand.

"Annabeth!?" His voice was astonished, and she squeaked in response, before poking her head out from behind Percy.

"H-Hi, Luke." She giggled. Percy's head snapped towards her so fast it was a miracle his neck didn't break. She was blushing, still coughing, and being shy. Percy's eyes darted between Luke and Annabeth, and something bubbled up in his stomach.

Not only had they seen him in the tunnels before, but Annabeth clearly had a crush on him. It made Percy grit his teeth and wanna hex Luke-but his wand was on his bedside table. No hexing tonight.

"What are you two doing out of bed? Especially, together!?" Annabeth shrugged.

"I-I was showing Percy something. I've b-been helping with... With his homework!" Her cheeks flared a brighter shade of red. Luke looked suspiciously between the two of them before shrugging.

"Alright, come on. Let's get you back to the common room." Luke held out his hand. Annabeth took it, wide-eyed and amazed. Percy grit his teeth harder.

They completely forgot about him. Watching them disappear into the darkness, Percy whistled. Hercules landed on his shoulder and chirped affectionately. "Go follow them. Make sure she gets back safely. Don't let him do anything."

Hercules hooted before flying off after the two Gryffindors. Jaw still clenched, Percy trudged back to the door that led to the boys' dormitory in the Slytherin common room. He got inside and lay down on his bed, staring up at the ceiling until the other boys awoke and rose for the day to come.

At breakfast, Piper talked animatedly about everything and nothing while Percy moodily watched Annabeth and Luke at the Gryffindor table. He didn't move until a parcel hit his head, and Hercules landed next to the chicken legs. Piper reached out for one, giving it to the bird. Hercules was clearly proud of himself.

Huffing, he grabbed the parcel and ripped open the brown paper. Inside was a leather-bound journal, with a note attached by a string. He frowned.

This was your mothers

Don't say I never did anything for you.

It was written in Latin.

"What is it?" Piper asked.

"Nothing." Percy hastily crumpled up the note and shoved it in the pocket of his robes. He opened the journal, and on the first page was the pristine writing he'd seen when he'd gotten his vault key in the mail last year.

"My mom..." Percy whispered, running a finger over the dried ink, smiling. Then Draco's voice carried down the table. He shoved the book in his bag and stood to leave, a glass of orange juice in his hand, but his eyes landed on Annabeth and Luke.

Luke kissed Annabeth's cheek.

She giggled like a schoolgirl and Percy grit his teeth, seething. The orange juice in the glass, growing warmer the longer he held it, exploded out of the cup, showering Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle in it. Somehow, he wasn't wet at all. He put it down with a bang. The glass shattered on impact with the sound like a gunshot and Percy jumped back, eyes wide, breathing hard, trying desperately to control his anger.
