"Mind telling me why I'm standing in the shop and my sister's face is plastered all over every magazine? Next to Alex freaking Turner?!"
Arabella winced and held the phone away from her ear at the sound of Lilly's screeching. Her little sister should've come with a volume warning and a pair of ear plugs.
"I didn't know you knew who he was." She laughed in response, amused by the astonishment in the teenager's voice.
She was already aware of the news articles circulating about Alex Turner's alluring new love interest, and had seen the pictures those journalists had taken of them outside the club that night.
Alex had been apologising profusely about the whole situation ever since they were published, as if it was somehow his fault, and even though it was beyond weird to see her face in a bunch of magazines, she was just glad that no one had seen anything more... explicit.
Little did the world know that the two people they'd dubbed their new it-couple had been about to go to town on each other in the dirty alleyway before the paparazzi showed up.
Lilly squawked at her sister, drawing her attention back to the conversation. "Who doesn't know?! He's Alex freaking Turner!"
Arabella wasn't surprised in the slightest that Lilly already knew who Alex was. She was forever reading those stupid gossip magazines and fawning over celebrities with her friends, who between them probably knew the names and star signs of every famous person in Britain.
"I didn't." Arabella replied indignantly, smiling when Sabrina entered the room in a matching gym set and trainers. The blonde was clearly ready to leave for her daily run, and the brunette, who was procrastinating hanging up her laundry by lounging around on the sofa, honestly felt a little put to shame.
"Of course you didn't. You're not like normal people. You live under a rock." Lilly sassed, causing Arabella to roll her eyes. The little demon really had no filter. "I can't believe that Alex Turner asked you out. You're, like, gross."
Had her sister been in the room, she probably would've resorted to physical violence at that comment.
"Oi! You're the gross one, you little shit. I'll have you know that the articles called me gorgeous and graceful."
Lilly scoffed and mumbled something along the lines of yeah, graceful as a giraffe on rollerskates. For the sake of her dignity, Arabella pretended not to hear.
"Whatever. Next time you come home you'd better bring him with you." The younger Stevens demanded, and Arabella heard the sound of the little bell ringing above the door as Lilly left their local newsagents.
The older huffed out a breath. "For you and your little friends to ogle? No thanks."
She could practically hear the smirk on Lilly's face. "I only want to meet him before he finds out how boring you are and dumps you."
Arabella shook her head, finally deciding to give in to her sibling's teasing and let her win the little insult contest that they seemed to be having. "Well, his ex was Alexa Chung. Who am I to compete?"
Lilly laughed, clearly joking. "Exactly my point."
The older Stevens smiled, glanced up when the door slammed behind Sabrina, and checked the time on her phone. "Lil, I've got to go. Sophie's coming round. I'll talk to you later, okay?"
