Seventy One

There were so many that loved her
And so many she adored,
But her heart could never be sure
Of all the love they implored,
Till along came a boy
With a cursed fate and a wild smile
That brought her joy
And made love worthwhile.
On the last day they were together,
She kissed his eyes closed like it didn't hurt
And whispered, "forever,"
As they laid him down in the dirt.
