#2. The Hunt

Your Pov:

I just finish work, and am getting ready to leave. "Hey Y/n do you have a minute?" my boss questions me.

It's probably overtime.

"I do not I am afraid, I got a date in 2 hours." I apologise, my voice a bit higher than usual. She looks at me shocked, and then smiles "Ah, I see. Never pegged you for the type. Have fun." she walks away, she seems excited. Something happened last night, Ghouls talking about it all over the place. I have some acquaintances texting me non-stop about something happening to Rize.

Well would you look at that.

GC:

Mina: Rize has died.

Blake: How?

Mina: I heard some steel beams from the construction site fell on her. Someone definitely pushed them, and she didn't notice, I bet.

Blake: Yes, I heard she was feeding again last night.

Mina: Exactly. We'll just have to see.

I turn my phone off, and hurry out of work, quickly reaching my apartment. Nothing out of place. I turn to my room, and enter slowly. Everything is fine. I change my clothes, a casual black dress, tights and some black ankle boots. I throw on a nice black long coat, and check the time.

1830.

I have enough time, to get to the café. I grab my keys, and wallet and shove them into the small black bag I decided to take, and make my way back out the door. Locking it behind me.

I manage to get to the café dead on 1900, Nagachika was already waiting inside. I wave to him as I enter, and he seems a bit down. "Hello, what's with the upside down smile?" I question, taking my seat opposite him. "My friend Kaneki, just got into an accident with the girl he went out with yesterday. She didn't make it, and he's in critical condition." I look at him shocked, trying to find the right words to say. "Keep me updated, I'll try to help." I say, and that seems to bring a small smile to his face. We order, and not long after the food arrives, but mine was a bit different.

This should tide me over till I can eat him.

"So, are you a uni student?" I ask, trying to get some semblance of a conversation going. He looks to me, his sandwich in his hand. I try not to laugh, with the way he's looking right now, and he awkwardly scratches the back of his head. "I am, yes." He replies, and then taking another bite of his sandwich. I carry on eating mine.

"What about you?" He asks me, looking up from his sandwich for a second. Its my turn to look at him with my sandwich in hand. He laughs. "I work in a small calling company about 10 minutes from my apartment." I reply with, finally finishing my sandwich and finishing off my coffee.

He just finishes his coffee and sandwiches as well. "Would you like to go watch that movie?" I turn to him, getting up and ready to pay for the meal. He quickly pays for me, while I'm turned to him, and I start to laugh. "Ever the gentleman I see." he walks me out the doors, and we head to the cinema. "Happy to watch a movie." He states.

I could have fallen for him, in another life.

But I need to eat, so in this one, it's not possible.

"So, what job to you hope to get?" I carry on walking, him next to me. He glances over to me, and then thinks for a bit. "I don't really know to be honest." He finally replies, and I look at him with wonder. "I see. Well hopefully it suits you." I say, smiling.

We finally reach the cinema, and it takes us 10 minutes to choose a film. We walk in, get some popcorn between us, and head into the theatre.

The film lasts an hour and half. it's not 2100. I look to Hide, and he's looking at me. "Would you walk me home, it's fairly dark." I ask shyly, playing with my voice once again. He smiles widely, and nods his head "Was already going to."

"So, we are getting close, yes?" Nagachika asks me, I nod, leading him down the alley next to my house. "Shortcut?" I activate my kagune, all 8 tails appearing behind me. He looks to me, a smile on his lips. My expression changes from hungry to confused.

Why is he smiling?

"Liked the date so much, you need to eat me?" Nagachika laughs. I keep looking at him, moving slowly, getting closer, and when I had him in my tails reach, I stop. "I'm hungry, It's been 5 days on the dot. I needed to eat, so I went out looking for someone yesterday, and you looked very appetising, so I decided to chase you." I state, looking at my nails ever so slightly. "I always give my meals a little date before I eat them, I don't see a point in just going straight in for it." I again look to my nails, and looks at me, thinking.

"How about we find you something else, and we go out again tomorrow?" He states to me. I get more confused, I won't be able to find another meal this short notice. I retract my kagune, getting closer to him. "I won't find another meal at this hour." I tell him, he laughs, and then is suddenly quiet. Walking out the alley, he comes back with a passerby. He seems out of it, yet he looks at me, and suddenly smiles. "You. Help me." I look at him. "With what?" I question, almost bored. "Take my life. My wife fought me and now I can no longer see my daughter." He says, tears brimming his eyes. "Alright." I say, almost sad.

I again bring out my kagune, then he feels true fear. He smiles to me one last time, before I slash his neck in a swift motion. "how come you only have the one eye?" Nagachika asks me. Its my turn to look to him and laugh. "I am a one-eyed ghoul, born between a human and a ghoul. I am a ghoul, but am not at the same time. I eat like them, and I have these darned tails, but other than that I ain't no ghoul." I say, digging into my main meal.
