I am actually kinda proud of this. I was 12 when I wrote it and in 6th grade. The assignment was to write a villanelle.
When the Moon Starts to Rise
As the bright sun sets, the moon starts to rise
I lay looking up at the starry night
Every night is a wonderful surprise
The stars in the sky start to blind my eyes
The fiery comets fly far out of sight
As the bright sun sets, the moon starts to rise
The moon is so full it fills up the sky
The sky is a blur of purple and white
Every night is a wonderful surprise
I absolutely promise they're not lies
Oh, the amount of stories I could write
As the bright sun sets, the moon starts to rise
Off in the distance I see fireflies
Their presence is a marvelous delight
Every night is a wonderful surprise
Finally, I begin to shut my eyes
Everything is peaceful and I'm alright
As the bright sun sets, the moon starts to rise
Every night is a wonderful surprise
