Castiel Novak was confused as hell. One moment Dean had gone out to throw out the trash and the next he was gone. Cas ran out into the street and looked around. Something was wrong he could feel it. He pulled out his cellphone and called Gabriel. "Hey bro, what's wrong?" "Is Dean with you?" "Dean? No, he's over there with you. That's what I thought." "He was, for one moment. Now he's gone." "Have you called Anna?" "No, don't talk to Sam about this until I tell you can." "But Cas!" he whined. "No! I'm calling Anna now." He hung up the phone and called Anna. "Hello?" "Anna! Is Dean with you?" "Dean...I haven't seen him since you left. Why? Cas what is it? What's wrong?" "Dean...he's just gone." "I'm coming over there, don't do anything stupid."

Cas waited the five agonizing minutes it took Anna to run from the cafe to his residence. When she got there he hugged her quickly and she decided to have a look around. She had keen eyes and always noticed small things out of place. Like when Dean had placed his coffee cup down with the handle facing away from him instead of towards him and could explain to Cas it was from stress. Cas didn't understand it, but Anna was good. She looked around the pavement and immediately found something Cas had missed. "Is that?" "Cat hair." Anna confirmed. "That's long even for a cat." She nodded and looked again. "It resembles human hair more than cat, but it's definitely cat hair." Cas shook his head. "Anything else?" She pointed to the sidewalk. "Slightest of scuff marks. Dean didn't put up much of a fight, if any at all." "Wait....what?"

Anna lead him through the slow process of realizing Dean wasn't with anyone he knew. He was gone. "Will you call the cops?" Cas shrugged. "I probably should, but would they believe me?" Anna shook her head and stood up. "Call Sam. Talk about what you three should do." "Anna....thank you." She smiled and walked back to the cafe to finish her shift, promising to be back when she was done. Cas called Gabe again and asked to put Sam on the phone. "Hello?" "Hey Sam, it's Cas." "Oh hey Cas!" "Sam, don't flip out. I think Dean is missing, there's signs of a small struggle and Dean disappeared from one moment to the next." Cas waited for a moment, he could only picture Sam's feelings. "Sam, we'll find him. Can you come over?" Sam didn't answer, he simply hung up the phone.

Cas sighed and walked back inside. A few minutes later he heard a car outside and looked to see Gabe and Sam climbing out of Sam's car. "Sam!" "Cas, what did you see?" "It's what I didn't see. I looked out the window and turned my back for a moment. Then he was gone." Sam nodded, sucking in a breath. "Sam....I'll find him. The cops probably won't listen or care, but I do. I promise I'll find him." Sam nodded again and turned to Gabe. "We should stay, look for anything that could help." Gabe nodded and took over Cas' computer. Both Sam and Gabe were excellent with computers, so Cas left them to whatever they were doing. He walked back outside to look around for something to help. After a while he spotted something which sent him running back inside.

"Guys! The security cam should have seen the whole thing." Sam looked up at Cas and shoved Gabe out of the way, his fingers moving quickly across the keyboard. After a few minutes a video feed popped up and they all stared at the camera. They saw Dean put the bag on the curb and then three guys jumped him, and a woman bent over to say something in his ear. Then they dragged him off and the woman looked up to the camera. Cas gasped, her eyes glowed in the camera, like a cat's. "Who is that?" "I don't know. But people's eyes don't usually have those reflective eyes." "Well what does?" Gabe pulled out his laptop, and Sam did the same leaving Cas to his desktop computer. After a while Sam sighed and Gabe shut his laptop. "Anything?" "Just lore and shit like that. No solid proof." Gabe sighed as he continued. Sam fell back on the bed and lay there for a moment. Cas looked back at his screen. "Yeah...same stuff here. Shape-shifters apparently have this ability."

Sam sat up. "Shape-shifters?" Cas nodded. "Sammy, you're not seriously believing this are you?" Gabe asked with a forced chuckle. "It's Sam and....." Cas stood up, looking into Sam's face. "When you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." Sam nodded and Gabe looked at the both of them. "Wow, you believe this." "Well, it's either this or some kind of animal lady. Cat's eyes do that." Cas muttered. "That woman is clearly in charge of this. Who the hell was she Sam? Did you recognize her?" Gabe asked, trying to find something. "No...I've never seen her before. Not with eyes that do that or would want to hurt my brother."

"Cats and a woman....why does this sound familiar?" Cas continued, thinking of all the books he'd read. What was that goddesses name from that Egyptian book he had read so long ago? He sat back at his computer and typed "Egypt Cat Goddess" into the search engine, and what he was faced with was mind blowing. He exhaled sharply with two words escaping his mouth. "Bastet, crap."
