Saving Dean (Destiel AU)

Chapter 2

Dean opened the door to the building and welcomed Sam and Gabe. "We weren't expecting you until tomorrow!" he tried to hide the guilt he felt. "If your room isn't clean it's fine Dean." Sam said, noticing his brother's behavior. "Where's Cas?" "Cleaning." Gabe chuckled and ran ahead to surprise his brother. Dean and Sam had a quick hug and then followed Gabe, but at a walk. "So, how's your school going." "Good, grad in two days. Nothing much to do but enjoy it right?" "And how's Cas?" Sam's eyes conveyed some kind of message that Dean ignored. "He's perfectly fine." "Just fine?" Dean sighed and walked ahead of Sam. 

Everything was okay with Cas wasn't it? He was just a friend, his best friend at that. There was nothing like that happening, not what Sam was thinking. "Awwww come on Dean. Details." "Shut up Bitch." "Jerk." echoed from behind him. They reached Cas' apartment and found Gabe tutting as Cas shoved the last blanket under the couch. "Cas...will you ever learn?" "No." Cas muttered and gave Gabe a welcoming hug. After some chit-chat and snacks, Dean and Cas decided to treat their brothers to a night out. 

They walked across campus to the small cafe the had been at earlier and went in. It was quaint but lovely, and Dean and Cas had spent many wonderful nights here with friends. Anna worked the night shift and came over to take their order. "Hey guys! I'm pretty sure I know what you want. Let me do this." she said, shushing Sam's protests that she would in fact get it wrong. "Sam wants the salad special with a latte, Gabe wants the sweetest thing on the menu with a hot chocolate, Cas and Dean with your cheeseburgers, fries on the side. For Cas an iced tea and Dean....it's Friday so a beer." She smiled at them, Sam looked impressed and Dean looked proud of Anna for remembering that. "Be back in a jiffy!" Dean didn't see it, but she gave a look to Sam that said, I tried but no luck. 

She was back with their meals rather quickly, and Dean and Cas dug in. Gabe was happy with whatever he got, Dean didn't know what it was, and Sam was as happy as a pig in mud. They laughed and talked for a while. A few of Dean and Cas' friends popped by to say hello to the younger brothers. They were told all about them all the time by the elder brothers and their friends wanted to meet the famous Sam and Gabe. After a while Gabe insisted upon ordering dessert, where he ordered a slice of chocolate cake with thickly layered cream cheese icing. Dean opted for cherry pie, and Sam and Cas both settled for a small serving of ice cream.

On their walk back to Cas' place (where Dean had once again decided to stay the night), Sam pulled Gabe to the side and whispered something to him. He groaned and Dean sighed. "Whatcha talking 'bout boys?" he asked, thinking of what the answer could be. Anything from exams to girls. But the answer was not what he expected. It sucked that Gabe could be perfectly honest at times just like Cas. "About you and my brother and how cute you two are together." Dean tripped on nothing and caught himself. Cas looked over, oblivious to the conversation. He was too busy watching a honeybee pollinate a flower. "Cas? What'd you think of that?" "That honey bees are one of the cleverest creatures on the face of the Earth." Dean sighed and continued to Cas' place. When they got there, the younger siblings got into Sam's car and drove to their hotel nearby, whereas Cas and Dean went upstairs, hoping to do some cleaning before grad.

After an hour, Dean was dragging a trash bag out to the curb full of stuff. When he set it down he turned to go back in the apartment and a cloth came down on his mouth. It smelled like....catnip and chloroform. But Dean didn't have much time before slipping into unconsciousness. Before he did, a voice purred in his ear, "Hello Dean Winchester. My little chew toy came along too." and he was gone.
