My vision was blurry, so I took my contacts out. Everything looked so new and bright and clear. I looked at everyone’s perfect faces with a new outlook. Funny thing is that there were still no faces below the title of perfect. I could see each and every crack in the ceiling, walls, and foundation. I could see all the way across the room without any issue and Angel, who happened to be very close to my face, wasn’t blurry at all. A smile lit my face. I was excited. I pushed Angel and he flew back a couple of feet, causing me to giggle. I was strong and I could see! It was amazing. I was probably pretty fast too. I got up and thought about going to Angel then I was there. It didn’t even feel like I had moved. The various creatures around the room were laughing at me and watching me with many mixed expressions such as, awe, sadness, pain, happiness, excitement, wonder, and confliction. I didn’t really care though. I felt like a little kid all over again. I helped Angel up.

“Do I have any powers or anything,” I asked excitedly. I really wanted to know if there was a way I’d be able to do anything special.

“We don’t know yet. It is possible for any creature to get an extra power when they change, but not everyone does and if they do it may not manifest itself for awhile.”

“Darn. I want one, Angel!”

“I wouldn’t encourage you to want one so bad, considering it may not happen.” He had this bored expression on his face that read, “I so don’t want to have to deal with this. I knew she was going to make an annoying wife. Grr.” I laughed at my thoughts about his thoughts causing him to look at me like I was weird, which I must admit was kind of, if not mostly, true. I kissed him and everyone cheered. I was just so happy. I mean I was going to kill Angel, but until then I might as well have fun, right? I think so. I pulled him away and out of the room, leaving the clapping creatures behind us.

Nirva had followed us out of the ceremonial room. She looked dead at me and winked. It seemed like she was telling me that there was so much more to come and I didn’t doubt that one bit.

“Congratulations, my dears. I hope you have fun on your consummation night.”

“Consummation?” I gulped.

“That’s right, my love. The ceremony isn’t complete without the consummation,” Angel whispered into my ear. I’m sure my eyes widened at that point.

“It’ll be fine sweetheart. It’s not required,” Nirva reassured with a light smile playing at her lips, like she knew what was coming in my very near future, but wouldn’t tell me. I felt like I was out of the loop on some big gossip or something. It was weird. My shifted between them and my face scrunched up trying to figure out what they knew that I didn’t. I squinted my eyes at them, trying to figure them out. It obviously didn’t work, because I didn’t find out one single thing. I crossed my arms and sighed like a little kid. Angel looked at me and laughed with his little half smile on his face. It was like he was teasing me, playing with the fact that there was something I didn’t know. I hit him in the arm. It had to hurt, because I didn’t hold back and I saw his face scrunch up. His eyes turned red and he threw me against the wall. It didn’t hurt as much as it usually did. It was actually kind of hot.

“Someone’s feeling pretty feisty, huh?”

“You have no idea.” Angel’s face relaxed only enough to change his eyes back to their pretty natural green color. He was quite handsome.

“Well, I’ll be leaving you two. I want you to report in a week to my office to talk business,” Nirva said, interrupting my thoughts. Angel whipped his around.

“One week,” he questioned.

“Is that not enough?”

“No, I mean yes, I mean I didn’t expect it.”
