“Nooo, Saphira you can’t do that,” Nicholas yelled, grabbing my arm.

“I have to. You don’t understand. I’m through with being weak. I can’t take it anymore. After last night, I realized that I won’t be able to withstand this place and I will die trying.”

“She is right. She has no choice,” Alice said, like the mother figure she was. Nicholas let go of me and nodded. Alice grabbed my hands in her and looked at me.

“I’m glad you understand,” I told her.

“I have no choice. I would be against it if I knew there was any way you could get out of it, but I know there is no way that demon will let you go and even if he did you would be in constant danger, because he has already introduced you to his world and with him, as a human, you are also always in danger.” I nodded realizing that she only agreed with the logic of my choice, which I guessed was good enough.

“I’m sorry, you guys. I have to do this. I swear I won’t change myself with this change.”

“I hope you’ll be able to stay you, but who knows what’ll really happen. I mean, I doubt Master Santibañez was always like he is now,” Nicholas whispered into my neck as he hugged me. “Especially, since I only just really met you.” At that, I laughed.

“Like I said, I won’t change myself.”

“Of course, you won’t.” Alice smiled reassuringly.

“Well, I must bid you two adieus as I head to get the demon to take me to the Underworld.”

I walked away from my friends and up the stairs. I put my bags in my room then crossed the hall to knock on Angel’s door. He didn’t answer, but I could hear him moving around. I knocked a bit harder, expecting him to immediately come to the door. He didn’t.

“Oh, My Gosh! Angel if you don’t open this door--”

“What? What do you want?”

“Get ready to take me to the Underworld. I need to speak to Nirva.”

“No, you’ll have to wait.”

“Either you take me or I find another way myself.” I crossed my arms across my chest. Before I knew it I was being held at least three feet off the ground and by my throat. I couldn’t breathe. I struggled against him and clawed at his hands.

“You will not command me or give me ultimatums,” he hissed. Angel let upon my throat a bit, so l could respond.

“Bring... Me... To... Nirva,” I choked out in as harsh a voice I could muster.

“What’s the magic word, Saphira,” he growled nuzzling into my neck and tightening his grip on my neck again. I wheezed trying to speak.

“Fuck,” I coughed. “You.” Angel dropped me and laughed as he walked back into his room.

“Come back when you know how to ask.”

“No, I’m going call Bobby.”

“You call him and you die, bitch,” he said from behind his closed door. I didn’t need to see him to know what his face looked like. He was pissed and I could hear darkness seeping into the air from the sound of his voice. I wasn’t scared though, not anymore.

“Then bring me to see Nirva, you bastard!”

“Go get dressed.”

“Finally! I thought I was going to have to find my way somehow.”

“If you aren’t ready in five minutes,, you won’t be going.”

“Is that a threat,” I spat.
