Cat was a young 13-year-old girl. She lived in LA, California on Huckleberry Street. She was in 6th grade when she had her first crush. His name was Lucas. Lucas was a tall blonde. He always had his hair slightly rough, but not too much.
"OMG! He is so cute!" Cat said one day to her BFF Cassie at lunch, "You should tell him you like him. The spring dance is coming up this Friday. And anyway, he is understanding and kind. You can still be friends with him even if he says no." Cassie told her. "But what if-" Cat started to say, but just then someone came over.
"Lucas, w-w-what are you doing here?" Cat was surprised to see Marcus, his quiet twin, beside him as he was normally distant toward Lucas. "I wanted to, um, ask you something." Lucas replied. "What's up?" Cat asked. Her heart was pounding inside. "Cat, I was wondering, would you like to go to the spring dance with me?" Lucas asked. Fireworks exploded in Cat's head, she felt like she would burst with joy! "Yes! Yes!" Cat nearly yelled. Lucas smiled and said, "Great, see you Friday!" as he walked away, Marcus whispered something in Cassie's ear that put a huge smile on her face. She looked at him, nodded, then watched him walk away. Cassie squealed as soon as he was out of sight, "EEEEEEEK! Marcus asked me out to the dance!" Cassie told Cat in a singsong tone.
