"Yo, uh Max! Are we still on for tomorrow night?" I say to myself in the mirror, "Max! Ready for the spring dance? UGH! No! Got your outfit for the dance? Nope! Max! Hey! Are we still on for tomorrow? Are you ready? Perfect!" I walk out of the bathroom and head to class.
I rest my head on my folded arms on my desk. "Does anyone want to answer question three on the board?" Ms. Peppermint asks. I cover my face as everyone else shoots their hand up in the air "Vicky, come on up" Ms. Peppermint says pointing toward my desk "Dang it!" I say under my breath. As I walk up to the board, Maria, the class bully sticks her foot out, trips me, then snickers when I fall.
My face slams into the floor below me. Thankfully, I had fallen in the direction of the bean bag chair, so I didn't hit the hard tile floor. It provided some cushion, but not a lot. My head still hurts pretty bad. "Maria! I'd better not see you do that again. Apologize! Now!" Ms. Peppermint said "Sorry!" Maria said in a "You're dead" tone. Slowly, I got back up and rubbed my forehead, then continued to the board, wincing. I wrote the answer on the board quickly. I sat back down and sniffled.
"Vicky?" Cat says quietly while softly shaking my shoulder, I can tell she's concerned. I wince, "Ah, yeah! I'm good girl!" I say, turning to her with an "I'm not really" kinda smile. She didn't notice. "You may leave. Dismissed!" Ms.Peppermint calls as the bell rings. "Let's go" Cat says resting her arm along my shoulders as we walk out.
We see Max by the lockers and head over to talk to him. "Hey, Max! Are we still on for tomorrow? You ready?" I call out to him. "Yeah!" he calls back, heading toward us. Max walked right up to me and gave me a little peck on the cheek. I blush madly and turn away so he doesn't see. Cat giggles. "See you tomorrow night!" Max says, walking away and waving.
"GIRL! WHAT WAS THAT?!" Cat asks me, excited for drama. I feel bad to disappoint her, but I have to.
"I don't know." I say flatly.
"So... that was just random?" Cat asks, deflated.
"Yeah." I reply.
Cat looks disappointed.
