Ranboo opened his eyes and sat up. A wide smile spread across his face, and he felt extremely excited. He was over the moon because today was his 12th birthday party. His mother was making him a cake, and he hoped it would be strawberry, his favorite flavor. His tutor was also bringing him a surprise, and he hoped it would be a birthday present, maybe a new toy or even his first ever sword. He especially hoped it would be an iron sword. Perhaps his father would take a break from work and spend time with him and his mother. He threw off his blankets and sprang from his bed to the door, feeling like the happiest kid in the world. "Momma! Papa! Today is the day," he yelled, searching for his parents or tutor. "Paul!" he called out. Almost tripping over himself, he was caught by a servant who thankfully grabbed his shirt. "Hey, kid! Watch out. You could have gotten hurt!" the servant spoke as she quickly helped him to his feet. "Sorry, Mrs. Rose!" he said, hiding his face in embarrassment. She almost giggled and booped his nose. "Do you know what today is?" she asked. "Of course, Mrs. Rose, it's my birthday!" he said. "Do you know who's going to be there?" she asked softly. "Of course! Papa, Paul, Aimsey, and..." "Hannah? Ranboo?" a voice yelled out. He immediately recognized the voice; it was his mother. "Mrs. Cassiel?" Hannah yelled out. His mother appeared around the corner, wearing a long dress with a cloak on her shoulders. "Oh, Mrs. Cassiel, I was looking for you about the party! I was hoping to know what type of decorations were on the cake and the party in general." She said this to his mother, holding a folder; probably, it was decoration designs, but then he noticed the strange look on his mother's face. She looked sad and stressed, and her long black hair was messy. Mrs. Rose became nervous, and she seemed to know what was going on. "Mrs. Rose, we need to talk in private." She said, and he looked at both of them confusedly, wondering what was going on between them. "Hey dear, go back to your room; get ready for your party," his mother said, gesturing to his room. He slowly walked away, going back to his room. 'Why is momma so stressed? Is everything okay?' he thought as he walked back to his room.
Hannah looked at Mrs. Cassiel with worry. The queen had never been this upset before. "Ummm... Mrs. Cassiel, what's going on?" she asked, concerned. The Queen appeared stressed; her green eyes looked tired, and her long black hair was a complete mess. Hannah had never seen the Queen in such a state, and she knew what was causing her stress. "Is it our..." "No! Don't mention that name here!" she interrupted, raising her hand to signal not to speak of their kingdom's rival. Despite their powerful army, the growing army of their rival was becoming a cause for concern. With each kingdom they invaded, and from what Hannah had heard from Tina, their rival's army was growing day by day. "Are they going to..." "Hopefully not. If they do, I'm not sure if we are all safe from hunters, or if Ranboo will be safe from hunters," she said, wrapping her arms around herself, seeking comfort at the thought of not being able to protect her son. Hannah knew it was already dangerous for hybrids to be in this world, especially a hybrid like Ranboo, due to his half-ender and half-whatever the other white half was. "Is that why Mr. Cassiel..." The queen nodded sadly. "That's why he's been in his office lately, working hard to defend our people, hoping whatever peace treaty he comes up with, they wouldn't invade us and slaughter our people." She said, Hannah hoped that they wouldn't invade them and brutally slaughter them all, but she knew if that happened, Paul Willard would protect him and help him get to safety; maybe even adopt him; she knew he had a wife, and her name is Catherine.
