I do hope you enjoy this chapter that I have posted after eons.Summary: Their life after Kageyama's departure.
Story:
It was hard to imagine someone could downright disappear. In today's world, social media is used by everyone, with information available at their fingertips in the blink of an eye. And yet, Atsumu had tried so hard to find Tobio's whereabouts and failed. Tobio's wish of leaving him alone be damned. Not that Atsumu hadn't tried in the beginning. After the shock of finding the home empty in the morning that fateful day, he had frantically tried calling Tobio until he discovered that letter on the table.
Yeah, it was hard to imagine someone could disappear. But that was what Tobio wanted. It hurt like a bitch. He never thought Tobio would leave like that, blindsiding him completely. Not after the night they had when, after a long time, sleep had claimed him in Tobio's arms. He didn't even get a proper goodbye. He didn't get to hold Tobio one last time and didn't get a chance to convince the love of his life not to leave him or bring him along wherever he was going. Atsumu would follow him anywhere. He would have fought tooth and nail if only Tobio had said so and would have done anything Tobio asked except endure whatever this misery was.
"You still don't have any news?"
For the past few months, their wing spiker, Sakusa, has asked Atsumu the same question daily. If Atsumu did, he wouldn't be here at practice, fighting a hangover like he had been doing for a long time.
I can't control this anger and frustration.
He tried to forget those words swimming in front of his eyes, straight from that cursed piece of paper Tobio left behind. There was no need for Tobio to go, not like this. He should have taken his anger out on him, and Atsumu would have welcomed it. Hell, he knew he deserved it. He could tolerate anything in the world as long as Tobio was there.
Sakusa was still staring at him with concern as he took a sip from his water bottle. It wasn't uncalled for, either. Since Tobio left, Atsumu had done nothing but practice like a madman. He could only do so much after his unsuccessful trip to Italy. Tobio had made quick work of leaving from there as well. It also didn't help that none of Tobio's friends were willing to give information on Tobio's whereabouts. It was all he could do to survive. Atsumu rarely felt anything these days, least of all the passion for the game he and Tobio loved, but it was familiar; it was comforting in a way nothing was. Not right now. Atsumu could only cling to what he knew, or he would disappear. He would never give it up for anything. If Tobio ever decided to come back, he would find him right here. That tiny glimmer of hope still pushed him to get up in the morning despite only sleeping a few hours.
"No," Atsumu replied, tired of the same shitty question. "You sure you have no idea where he went, Omi Omi?"
Sakusa had stopped taking offense to his accusations. "No, Atsumu."
Atsumu heaved an exhausted sigh, walking after the ace as he left the changing room.
What was the point of being the best at something if Tobio was not with him to celebrate? This apathetic thought would have never occurred to him because he never thought Tobio would leave him like this. Leave Osamu like this.
Nothing made any sense these days, nothing at all.
After another vigorous practice session, Atsumu had tucked himself away in the corner of the cafeteria, picking at the food. Nobody bothered him these days when he ate for fear of facing his anger.
