I am so excited to enter the room. It's my first day as an exchange student in America. I feel this academic year will be the most challenging and thrilling year of my study as a language student.
I sit silently in my room while my classmates are all busy chatting to one another. I feel alone inside the room; all of them know each other.
"Good morning, class!" Our Creative Writing teacher greets us.
When he writes his name on the board, I shout "Amigo!", our call sign. I can't keep my excitement after learning that he was my pen pal for two years. He knows my dark secrets as I know his. He is my favorite author who uses "Eugene" as his pen name on Wattpad.
My classmates stare at me and have no idea what is happening. Then everyone returns their attention to my teacher when he says, "Okay, class. Please introduce yourselves here in front." His eyes look at me as if we have known each other for a long time. This invitation chills me to the bone.
