I felt anxious at her words. I had been trying to suppress my thoughts for months now about what would happen if my child was born resistant to sunlight. I wasn't able to think about it because of Muzan's presence, but, I didn't want to think about the harsh reality either.
Every time I saw you look in the mirror at yourself or rub your stomach when you got sentimental, I knew you loved them already, even if you didn't talk about it. You were the only person I ever loved, but, I couldn't deny I felt excited at the idea of us being able to have a child truthfully.
But Muzan was going to take them away and kill them for himself. I felt sickened at the situation, something I had never felt before. Yet, I had no idea what to do to combat him because I was incapable of overthrowing him and the other upper moons on my moon.
"How do you know they are resistant?" I asked her. It is better to confirm it first before I get too worked up.
"Babies in the womb around six months of gestation can see and react to sunlight through the thinning skin of the mother. In addition, when I shine this UV light ray as well that mildly burns demons, there is no reaction as you can see," she said as she demonstrated shining the light on her hand. It became red and scorched for a moment.
I stuck out my hand as well and felt the burn, but there was no reaction or any sense of pain radiating from the child when shined on them.
"What do you suggest?" I asked her, feeling a bit defeated. I believed her, but I still had no plan.
"What do you plan to do with her after she births? Devour her and allow Muzan to consume your child? Let her live as a human? Or do you wish her to become a demon and live a life with you?" She asked me as she unreleased her truth serum blood demon art again.
There was no need, because there was only one answer in my mind. "I want her to become a demon and live with me eternally. I don't believe in any form of an afterlife, so that is the best option," I stated firmly as her eyes narrowed.
"You are aware just by keeping my location a secret you are committing treason?" She continued, eyeing me closely.
"Yes, I am aware. If it's for her then so be it. I don't intend Muzan to have my child either so what do you suggest Lady Tamayo?" I asked her, feeling frustrated at her interrogation. I knew she had to be sure though. I was an Upper Moon so it would be hard for her to trust me.
"Muzan will fall very soon I believe. I doubt he will allow her to live once he has what he wants. I will turn her into a demon for you and after and I won't allow the demon slayers to hunt you if," she says, pointing her finger in the air as she turns it into a 'two' sign.
"If?" I said, raising an eyebrow curiously. She mentioned demon slayers, so she must be working with someone to kill Muzan. Just months ago I would have never considered this, but when I saw you before you, I knew I would do anything to keep you forever, no matter the cost.
"You relinquish your consumption of human flesh. I have modified my body to only require human blood in small amounts bought from poor humans. I'm sure you are aware the demon slayers are intent on making you pay for your sins. You have to become their eternal protector instead. If you meet my second condition, you will have exactly what you desire," she stated firmly.
Giving up on the consumption of humans was originally thought to be impossible, but that demon girl we are supposed to hunt doesn't eat any humans apparently. And if I had to live on solely blood for you to live and be free from control, then, so be it.
"Alright. But you are aware I am committing treason. I cannot suddenly stop without Muzan growing suspicious. But, I can make a pact with you, when I am free of his control I will never eat another human and will ensure no other demons are born in exchange for your assistance, deal?" I asked holding my hand out. A demonic pact could not be broken even if you changed your mind later. Even if she dies, I am bound by it.
"I need one sample of her blood as well to treat her, if that is alright, then deal," She stated. I nodded as she grabbed my hand and a small display of blood wrapped around us, signifying our contract. The short boy in the corner looked shocked at her for making a deal with me, but I didn't care.
She carefully grabbed your arm and took a small sample of blood out of you with a sygrine. She brought it to the microscope and showed me how it looked at the cellular level. It had small circular red blood cells mostly, but mixed with other cells that didn't match. Inhuman cells.
"The demonic blood needed by the baby also flows through her veins, but without transforming, it is slowly killing her. This injection will act as a barrier in the umbilical cord to prevent the demonic blood from leaking into her veins further as well as combat the ill effects she feels now. The child will still get the necessary nutrients, however," She stated as she grabbed a small syringe filled with a mysterious yellow liquid and injected your arm.
"I expect her recovery to be swift. She is very strong already. After she gives birth, bring her as soon as possible to me to start a transformation. I will also transform you myself to prevent you from dying out when Muzan does," she explained as I dressed you back up gently.
Something was still bothering me though as I looked back to the mystical physician. "What is stopping Muzan from devouring her before the child is born if they are already resistant to the sun?"
"The child is still developing and will continue to until birth. Their human and demonic side have yet to balance. If Muzan doesn't wait, he can be killed by the mutation of the unknown," she explained matter of factly. I was sure of it now, she was the one who theorized this centuries ago, not Muzan. If she didn't believe it was safe for Muzan, you were safe for now.
"Thank you, for healing my wife. I won't forget this," I stated in a more somber tone than usual. It was going to be daybreak soon, so I had to hurry to bring you back home. I picked you up bridal style and waved goodbye to my new friends, I would simply tell Muzan if he asked I encountered a demon slayer with powerful mind-fogging abilities and was unable to locate Tamayo.
I made it back just in time. You were shifting in my arms as I laid you back down in the bed. I pushed the thoughts of my contract out of my head so Muzan would never be aware of my true intentions and instead focused on you.
Finally, your beautiful eyes fluttered open and stared back at me lovingly. We once never felt emotions, but when we were together, I felt like I was alive. It was so addicting I wasn't going to let anyone take it from me. I didn't care if I gave up all my previous pleasures or my way of my life, you were enough.
