POV : Adrian
Adrian was shaken awake. He sat up, prepared to chew out whoever dared wake him. When he saw Jamie smiling down at him his scowl faded into an unimpressed one.
"Jamie, I wanted to sleep in. I don't want to have to go to my dad's party." Jamie sighed and flopped down on top of him.
"I'm sorry, I normally wouldn't wake you, but I had a very special gift for you to open today." Adrian smiled and ran his fingers through Jamie's hair. It earned him a content sigh.
"Just a few more minutes, please." Jamie snuggled into his chest and made himself comfortable.
"Fine. Only a few, though." They lay there until the sun was fully pouring into the room. After that, Adrian sighed and started to get up. Jamie smiled and got up faster than any other person he knew. Adrian followed and they went out to Adrian's sitting room. The same spot where they had the party the night before. Jamie dug through his bag and pulled out a small tarp bag. He handed him the bag and sat down on the couch. Adrian followed suit and pulled the bag open. Adrian reached in and pulled out a small bottle. In it was a purple liquid. Jamie blushed and started to fiddle with his hands.
"I knew you wouldn't be able to find a way for us to produce an heir, so I took it upon myself. I gathered the ingredients and--put them together." He looked up at Adrian at the last part. "I know many people call me a witch, and they aren't completely wrong. I know a few potions and such. I had found that one when I was flipping through a book a few years ago. I figured it would help us. The main intent is to prevent women from getting pregnant, but the other thing it's been known to do is...make men able to. I know it's a bit fast for us as a couple and straight forward, but I figured, now we don't have to worry about anything. Just one of us drinks it and within a week or so, we are able to have kids." His face was bright red and Adrian was sure his was the same. Adrian embraced Jamie and crushed him in a hug.
"How do you always manage to pull things together last minute?" Jamie shrugged.
"A skill, I guess?" Adrian smiled, as broad as could be possible.
"Can I kiss you?" Jamie nodded. It was an aggressive kiss. It had so much emotion bubbling under the surface. When they both pulled away, they were smiling. "I got you something, too." He grabbed a box out from under the tree and set it in front of Jamie. He opened it and smiled. It was a large Indian holly fern.
"How did you even manage to acquire this?" Adrian shrugged.
"I know people." Jamie embraced him and kissed his cheek. "We need to get ready for the party. I'm sorry, I don't want to but we should. Besides, I want to announce us as a couple." He smirked. "Especially if we are going to get married." Jamie's face heated up and turned red. Adrian chuckled. "I'm only half kidding." He took Jamie's hand and got him up. He led him back into the bedroom to get ready. "I assume you didn't bring any party wear?" Jamie shook his head.
"I didn't expect to be staying long enough to attend." Adrian shrugged and ran off into his closet. He emerged with two matching suits. He blushed and looked to his feet.
"I had them made for us. For this party." Jamie smiled, lovingly and took the suit.
"It's lovely." The suit was silver with little green leaves on the collar and cuffs. He ran into the bathroom to put it on. Adrian's was the same silver but with little crowns. He shook his head. How did a prince fall in love with an apothecarian? It was absurd. He undressed and put his suit on. He went over to his desk and put on his crown. It matched the little ones on his suit. Jamie emerged and stood in the doorway, sheepishly. The suit was a little big, but the seamstresses did a pretty good job at guessing his size. Adrian took a flower crown off of his desk and put it on Jamie's head.
"You look fabulous."
"And you, very handsome." Adrian offered his arm out and Jamie took it.
"Shall we go down then?" Jamie nodded and they were off.Adrian had Jamie by his side the whole time he was greeting guests. He explained many times that Jamie was the one he was going to marry. Many ladies and families seemed disappointed. Many were outright rude. He ignored most of the comments and always moved on to the next group of people. He knew his father should be doing that, but Adrian's prince instincts told him to greet as many people as possible for his father. They ran into Mel and Clara and talked for a little while before moving on.
"Ah, Lady Christine. Thank you for coming. Oh, hello Haley. I didn't know you knew Christine." They shrugged and smiled. They glanced at Christine with a slight blush on their face.
"She asked me out for dinner, and I accepted." They shrugged again. "It's not too big of a deal." Christine hit them playfully.
"Don't mind them. How are you two? Did you solve our problem?" The two boys nodded. She seemed to let out a breath. "That's good, for Haley and I are going to move in with each other, come the new year." Jamie's face lit up.
"Oh, that's lovely, you two! I am so happy for you." They both smiled and bowed.
"If you don't mind, we are going to get back to the party. I hope you two have a good rest of the time." Adrian said. He led Jamie off and towards a table. "Stay here I'll be right back. I just saw my dad." He ran off after his dad and waved back at Jamie. He caught up with The King easily.
"Father, Jamie and I found a way to fulfill your requirements. Do I have your blessing to marry him?" His father turned to face him.
"Of course. My only requirement was you two provide an heir. If you met that, then of course you can marry him." Adrian smiled. He bowed and ran off back to Jamie. His broad smile gave Jamie all the context he needed.
"It went well I'm assuming?" Adrian nodded and embraced Jamie.
"I am going to marry you. Whenever your heart desires." His eyes were brimming with tears. "May I have this dance?" They both stood up and started swaying to the music.
"I guess everyone's Christmas plans changed this year!" Jamie laughed. "Clara moved in with Mel. We are dating. We can be openly a couple. You don't have to marry some woman you don't love. Tamara can have a stable home. So much has changed. Yet, nothing at all." He sighed and got a far away look in his eyes. "I am more happy than I have been in a while. I hope you know that." His eyes focused back on Adrian.
"I am too." He rested his forehead on Jamie's and let the music guide them through the dance. "Christmas plans are meant to be changed."Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed!
