Chapter 2: [Catching up with Maquia]

3rd Pov:

Inside Maquia's and Ariel's house, Yutaro was seen in his human form sitting on one of the chair's with White Fang being bandaged by Maquia.

White Fang yelp's and flinches in pain as Maquia cover's the pup's wound's.

Maquia: "I'm sorry, it's just really hard to wrap a bandage if you keep moving." She weakly said as she frowns when she saw how painful it must be for the young pup.

Ariel: "Is he going to be okay?" He asked looking at White Fang worried.

Maquia: "I think he will. And...done." She said a bit unsure before she finishes wrapping the last bandage on White Fang's leg.

White Fang look's at his bandaged leg and licks the clothed wrapped around his leg before looking at Maquia and Ariel and bark's playfully at them which made them and even Yutaro smile at the pup.

Ariel: "I knew you can do it mama!" He cheers and gives her big hug as Maquia was a bit surprised but smile's and hug's him back before Ariel turns his attention to White Fang and pat's his head. " See? I told you my mama can help you!" He said as White Fang bark's happily at him which made him smile.

Yutaro: "....." He just stares at them from the side but has a genuine smile seeing how much the boy love's Maquia as his mom.

He looks around the house seeing that it's nothing too grand or anything that set's it different to the other house's near by, it was just decent and good to support a whole family. But the thing that clicked in his mind was how did Maquia get here when her home Iorph is so far away from here. Suddenly a pang of guilt hit his heart when he remembered seeing her home in ruin, he blamed himself for that for leaving them unprotected and vulnerable from outsiders.

Ariel: "Hey, are you alright sir?" Suddenly Ariel asked while shaking his hand which got Yutaro's attention as he see's them looking at him a bit concerned.

Yutaro: "Y-yes, yeah I'm alright, and don't call me sir, just call me Yutaro." He said ruffling Ariel's hair as the boy whined but smile's at the kind gesture.

Maquia: "Hey Ariel, maybe you can give White Fang a guide around the house, just so he can be familiar with his new home." She suggested which made the little brunette smile in glee.

Ariel: "Okay!" He said as he gently picks up White Fang as they go around the house giving the wolf pup a good view of the room's and other furniture before they head outside.

Yutaro chuckles at the enthusiasm of the little boy and looks at Maquia.

Yutaro: "I like this kid." He said laughing a bit.

Maquia: "He can be a hand full sometime's, but he's a good kid." She said smiling as she moves her chair closer to his.

Both of them stayed there in silence for about a minute before the sound of yutaro sighing filled their ears while also peeking Maquia's curious.

Maquia: "What's that sigh about?" She asked.

Yutaro: "I just.....I'm sorry." He said with a sad and guilty look which confuses Maquia.

Maquia: "Sorry about what?" She asked but has a concern look.

Yutaro: "That I wasn't there for you, and you're friends and home. I was supposed to be your guardian, your people's protector, and yet I failed you all...I failed you...." He said in guilt and sadness which shocked Maquia at what he said before she places her hand over his which made him look at her and he see's her giving him a kind and reassuring smile.

Maquia: "Were you dealing with something?" She asked which confuses him a bit.

Yutaro: "Yes, I was dealing with a deviljho that was heading towards Iorph." He said remembering the reason he left was because of a deviljho.

Maquia: "Then I don't blame you."

This shocks Yutaro greatly, she doesn't blame him for not being there? But why?

Maquia: "I know it's not easy to do what you're doing, but I know that you didn't mean to leave us unguarded at that time. You shouldn't blame yourself for this, neither do we blame you for being absent, and I don't blame you Yutaro."

Hearing her kind word's Yutaro hangs his head low and closes his eye's feeling tear's starting to fall down form his face, seeing this Maquia pulls him into a hug with his face above her chest.

Maquia: "There, there, it's okay....just let it out." She whispered soothingly as she stroke's his back as the guardian knight weeps.

Maquia knows how difficult it was for Yutaro to do his job, they didn't ask him to do it, he volunteered to do it. He volunteered to protect them until he draw his last breath. And she and everyone else back home owed him a lot for it, for almost a decade he has continuesly defended them from many monster's and invading group's such as raider's and bandit's. But a few weeks ago when a group of Knight's invaded their home and took almost everyone from Iorph and burned the kingdom to the ground, he knows how much anger and guilt his feeling, as far as Maquia knows Yutaro has suffered enough losses.

Yutaro: "I'm sorry..." He sniffle as he hug's her tightly in his arm's.

Maquia: "It's okay, it's okay. I forgive you." She whispered which made Yutaro calm down a bit but it didn't stop him from crying him.

After about 30 minutes Yutaro finally composes himself and looks at Maquia with a grateful smile.

Yutaro: "Thanks...I needed that." He said wiping away his remaining tear's.

Maquia: "Don't blame yourself because you weren't there alright?" She said as Yutaro nod's which made her smile as well.

Both of them smiles at each other loving the comfort they gave each other, suddenly Maquia lean's forward and hug's him again with Yutaro hugging her back with both of them having small pink hue's on their faces.

Ariel: "Is he my dad now?"

Suddenly Ariel came back with White Fang walking besides him and looking at the two of them surprised.

Yutaro/Maquia: !!!!!

Both of them immediately break the hug and looks at Ariel with massive bushes on their faces.

Maquia: "Ariel! Don't say stuff like that!" She screech in embarrassment feeling her faces heating up.

Ariel: "But I heard mom's and dad's hug like that to show their love for each other." He pointed which made them more embarrassed.

Yutaro: "Who told you that?" He questioned the brunette with his beating red.

Ariel: "Dita, Lang, and Deol told me." He said with straight face while Yutaro stares at him confusion.

Maquia: "Of course they did." She said burying her face in her hand's with her blush seemingly increasing.

Yutaro: "Do you wanna introduce me to someone?" He asked looking at Maquia who just chuckles nervously.

Maquia: "ehehehe, I guess..." She said scratching her hair.

Yutaro: "Hmph. I think I'll like my stay here." He said smiling as he looks outside the window seeing the beautiful scenery outside.
