Garte (Right before Prologue of A Hard Knock Life)

After running around with Stacy and Yeari, I sighed as we finally got the news station sorted out.

"Ok. So from now on, Stacy will be running the morning broadcast and Yeari will be in charge of the evening. Any questions?" I asked as everyone cheered. "Alright. Let's go to the bar!"

Arriving at the tavern, I sighed as everyone from the office laughed and danced. Taking out my phone, I watched the time tick by as I waited for this to blow over.

"Yo, Garte!" A familiar brunette called to me as a ravenette followed behind him. "How have you've been, man?"

"Oh, Orton. How's your branch doing?" I spoke as I leaned back on the counter. "Also, why are you two here? This is for my branch being complete. You two still have a lot to do."

"We know. But we wanted to congratulate your son on his newest modeling gig at Tula Spa and Sauna!" He laughed as he handed me over a card. "They need him to pose as a delinquent rebel who's just got out of a fight."

"Huh. I'll check into it. He's currently been hanging around some girl, a witch. I think he might have a girlfriend." I chuckled as the brunette smirked at me.

"We thought your oldest and youngest were to wed our daughters? We made an agreement Garte." Earl chuckled as I shrugged.

"I can't control the way my son feel. He should be able to express himself in any way he see fit. Right now, he needs my support as a loving father." I replied sternly as Martin order a whiskey on rocks.

"Yeah. But shouldn't you get to control their lives? They'll learn better with your influence. A little push in the right direction." He grinned as I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Um. No. My kids are free to do whatever they like. Garroth already has his hands full with modeling and school. If he wants a relationship, it is his responsibility to start or end one." I smiled as he rolled his eyes. "Beside who are you to be correcting my children's behavior?"

"We're all friends. And we are just looking out for a brother." Earl spoke sternly as he took a swig from his root-beer bottle.

Looking over to Martin, I stared as he offered his whiskey over to me. But... it seemed a little off. It glowed a pink tint and sparkled in a way that made this whole situation seem suspicious.

"Come on, Garte! Live a little! Your wife is always busy with work and those brats are always on your ass about food and what not." Martin smirked as I raised an eyebrow. He just changed the topic...

"My kids are my responsibility and I love them. I refuse to drink... whatever that is." I shrugged as Martin pushed the drink into my hands as his eyes flashed dangerously.

"Do it. Or else." Earl growled as my eyes flickered over to him as Martin shoved the drink into my mouth and something hit my head, hard.

The next day

Feeling groggy, I held my head as blood leaked my hair. Sitting up, I found myself on the floor of my middle and youngest sons' room.

Staring at the floor, I quickly realized that there was a lot more blood and a knife on the floor. Standing up, I quickly grabbed the knife and examined it.

"I-is this my blood?" I asked myself as I grabbed my phone to check the time. "Crap. It's dead."

Walking out of the room, I leaned on the wall as my legs seemed to not work. Wobbling to the bathroom, I gripped the counter as I stared at myself in the mirror.

"What the hell happened last night?" I questioned as I looked over to the wall clock that read 12:30 pm. "How did I get home? Last thing I remember... What exactly do I remember?"

Hearing a ringing, I walked over to the living room where the house phone rang loudly.

"Hello?" I answered as what sounded like a trumpet rang out from the other line.

"Hey babe!" Zianna giggled as she attempted to shoo the elephant away. "Just calling to check in on you and the kids. How are you guys?"

"We're perfectly fine. I gave the workers a few weeks off. Wanted some bonding time with the kids since we haven't really gotten the chance with all the appointments." I answered as she giggled again.

"Good. You guys really do need your bro time or what not." She sighed as I raised and eyebrow. "Darling, please tell the kids that my time here for extended. Instead of only two weeks, I'm stuck here for seven."

"Seven weeks? Hun, that's almost two months. What could have possibly happened to cause this big of a delay?" I growled as she nervously laughed.

"You see, Emia the Elephant is currently pregnant with three little ones and I need to help her prepare for the delivery. Please understand that I don't want to leave you guys. I'll miss you." She spoke with sadness laced in her voice.

"I'll miss you too. I'll tell them when I get the chance. Also, Garroth might have a little lady friend soon." I smiled as her squeal reached my ears.

"We'll set up a meeting soon. Love you!" She giggled as she hung up.

"Why can't I remember anything from last night?" I hissed as I began to clean up the house.
