Once they got into the van, Victoria immediately bombarded the boy with tons of questions about where he was taking her, whether she was dressed appropriately, if she should have prepared something, and if the whole endeavor didn't cause Eddie too many problems. Judging by the number of words leaving her mouth per minute, he was convinced she must have been really stressed. It was cute, and it gave him a strange satisfaction - the fact that the date with him made her this nervous meant that she really cared.
"Jesus, woman!" He finally interrupted her chatter with a chuckle. "I was the one to invite you on a date, so of course I took care of everything. Your only task was to put your sweet ass here, and what a great job you're doing. You don't have to worry about anything." He assured the girl with a smile, turning into a side street.
"Sweet ass?" Vic raised an eyebrow, glancing at the boy. "Damn, Munson. If that's how you flirt, I'm glad you haven't before because you wouldn't stand a chance." She stated with a serious tone, turning her gaze towards the window to hide the effort it took her to maintain a poker face now.
"Oh like you had no idea I've been trying to woo you for ages? I thought we had that behind us, and it was obvious that I flirted with you every chance I got. And I was using better tricks than now." A smug smile appeared on Eddie's face as he was stating that.
"Haven't you thought that this was my way of flirting with you?" The girl took a quick peek in his direction.
"What? Pretending you're blind to my advances?" Vic nodded at the question, to which Eddie just rolled his eyes. "I sometimes forget how annoying you are. You're lucky you're cute, though."
It didn't take long before they reached the destination planned by the boy. Eddie parked the van in a spot overlooking Lovers Lake, not far from where they sat the first time they came there.
Victoria couldn't help but smile at the choice of the place.
"Just wait here for a moment, I need to settle a few things." Eddie asked the girl, but she had no intention of listening to him. She got out of the van and stretched, observing the partially frozen lake shining in the sunlight, it looked like it wouldn't take it long to melt the remaining ice on the surface completely.
During this time, Eddie was bustling around the back of the van. Vic wasn't sure what he was doing there, but from the sounds that came from that direction, it sounded like he was at least arranging some kind of living space. When he called the girl, announcing that everything was ready, she realized that her imagination wasn't far from the truth.
Eddie had arranged something resembling almost a bed with blankets and pillows in the middle. Victoria wasn't entirely sure if she ever saw anyone who had that many blankets. In the center, there was a thermos flask and a pile of snacks. The girl quickly assessed that all her favorite pieces were there. Next to all the food, a cassette player was already prepared, just waiting for someone to press the play button.
"Look, I'm kinda broke now, and I really wanted to make it special, but I just... I swear that once I have money I will take you on a proper date, I-" The girl's lips pressed against his interrupted Eddie's rambling.
"Shut up, Munson. It is perfect." She assured him in between kisses which he gladly reciprocated, making sure he doesn't miss any of them. "Now get your sweet ass inside." Victoria laughed and hopped inside, dragging Eddie by his hand as she made herself comfortable in the nest prepared by the boy.
"What did you choose?" The girl asked, motioning towards the player next to them, while Eddie was opening a bag of chips, handing them to her.
"Oh, it's actually something new. I had it recorded, especially for today." He wiggled his eyebrows, earning a quiet chuckle from the girl. After the first notes coming from the player, Victoria knew that the boy wasn't lying, and he had indeed matched the songs to her preferences.
