If there was one thing Marion knew about Hugo, it was that he loved her hair. When they were hiding away in the Chateau d'Ombrage, Hugo made her promise to never cut it again. She allowed him to braid small sections, and thread flowers through the braids– even if there wasn't much hair to work with, considering her hair was only down to her jaw.

Now–nearly a year later–Marion's hair had grown, and it had grown quickly. Now her dark tresses flowed just barely past her collar bones, and some small strands had become sun-bleached due to the long hours spent outside. It wasn't fun to have her long, dark hair splaying over her shoulders in the grueling summer heat, so Marion had taken to letting Hugo play in it.

Marion let out a quiet chuckle as Hugo carefully placed the flower crown he made onto her head, his eyebrows furrowed with concentration. He was quite the little perfectionist. He retracted his hands, and smiled once he was happy with his work.

"All done– Amicia!" Hugo called out, looking past Marion. "Look at the flower crown I made for Marion!"

Marion turned her head, and was faced with Amicia– who stood in the doorway of Hugo's bedroom. Amicia watched her family with a smile, she relished in the peace of the moment; the domestic tranquility that they only just now started to become familiar with.

Marion was not a pretty girl, not in most people's eyes, but the way that Amicia looked at her... it made her feel like she was the most comely maiden in the whole world. The dark haired girl could feel her round face heat up, and she averted her eyes from Amicia's form.

"Hi." Marion muttered, with a bashful smile.

"Hi." Amicia responded softly, with a small chuckle.

A/n: tbh I kinda cringed while reading this one again
