Sunlit burned my retinas as I stumbled into the clearing, gold flooding my blurry, tear-filled vision. I brought my blood-stained hand to shield my eyes as I tried to quicken my panicked pace.

"Over here!" A man shouted from the dim forest from which I had just escaped, followed by the barking of dogs and many footsteps crunching the fall leaves of the forest floor. My breathing turned shallow as my legs carried me as fast as possible, my body beginning to numb just as my mind had moments before. My bare arms were being bombarded with wispy brushes of the wheat surrounding me in the field as I hurried through.

My head shot to the side, my long brown hair flying in front of my face as I heard steps approaching me alarmingly quickly. A mass of brown and black was right on my heals, panting loudly as it nipped at me, trying to get me to the ground. A scream erupted from me as my mind clouded with adrenaline, I jumped a bit as he lunged at me, before turning abruptly to try and throw him off. I spotted another tree line in the distance, for all I knew it was the same forest and I had merely gone in a large circle. An ounce of relief passed over me briefly as I seemed to have lost the dog in the tall golden stalks. I spared a glance behind me to confirm, not paying attention to where I was going, a hysterical laugh escaped me as I went to turn back, only to be met with the shadow of a figure quickly approaching from the trees.

I skidded to a halt at the sight, quickly recognizing it as one of my pursuers... among other things.

A sharp pain pierced through my lower left leg, a loud snap reverberating through my whole body. My breath caught in my throat as I was promptly dragged to the ground, knocking the wind out of me. My whole body shook as I could feel my leg being thrown around by a strong unmovable force. I opened my eyes wide and saw my leg being completely mauled by the dog, I couldn't move, I could barely breathe as my body tried its best to shield my mind from the pain. My brain was fogged as well as my vision with copious amounts of adrenaline rushing through my body.

I'm going to die. I'm going to die.

I felt the vibrations of multiple pairs of footsteps rapidly approaching my head flat to the ground unable to lift it. My ears were ringing as I struggled to comprehend my surroundings, I wanted to give up. My body was ready to give up. I could hear vague shouting as the pressure on my leg released, followed swiftly by a feeling of warm wetness as I could feel my own blood pooling around my body from the wound. It sickened me, my body being suddenly overwhelmed with nausea as I began to try and formulate my surroundings and current situation. As I opened my eyes I focused down on my leg, seeing only red covering the ground and my legs. I gagged at the sight but couldn't peel my eyes away as tears stung them. That was until they were forced upwards as a hand roughly gripped my hoodie around my neck, dragging me up off the ground slightly.

My head throbbed as my ears continued to ring louder. The man that looked down at me was shouting in my face, his saliva obnoxiously thrown over my cheeks. At this point I couldn't manage to even notice, trying my best to hear what the man was saying. I felt my warmth leaving me through the ground. As my body began to shut down, my breathing was so shallow I wasn't even sure I was still breathing, my heart beats were so slow I couldn't tell if I still had one.

The man's head snapped up as another voice sounded from beside me, slightly calmer than his. They shared a quick spout before the man dropped me carelessly back to the ground. By this point the pain had subsided, I was surrounded by cold numbness. My brain devoid of almost any thought as my eyes refused to stay open.

I'm dying. I'm dying.

I shadow clouded my vision as I felt a presence sit down beside me, then a soft and warm touch on my arm as I slipped into darkness.

I'm dead.

This one is super short cuz I felt like it needed that disconnect between real life and the afterlife. Don't worry I'm on it :P
