Chapter two: "the fuck?"

We headed to lunch, her hands are shaking in mine. I hold her tightly to whisper to her without dragging any attention. "It's not going to hurt you Mari, I'll make sure of it, you're safe." I worry about the things she could've done to somewhat summon this horrific creature. Or if one of her dirty exes are pulling a fucked up prank to real her in to get a taste of her sweet sex again.
"the fuck?" gently talk amongst myself. Her tingling fingers squeeze my hands. Her eyes looking in mine. "What if it takes us?! What if it's going to take me away?! What if this is my last day on earth?! Call mom! Call her! Please!" Tears stream down her face like a river. She screeches while people Stare at our table.
I rush to get my phone out of my pocket, it's dead. So me and Mari head to the school councillors. They fetch Mari a warm cup of tea to comfort her. meanwhile I'm slanting nervously against the wall with the telephone against my ear, dialling our mother, waiting for her to pick up. So we can get out of this shit-hole before anything bad happens.

"Mom? Are you there?!" I say. "Yes ell, what's going on? Are you trying to get out of school by faking your sickness again darling?" She says gently. "mom, something is wrong with Mari. I-i can't explain how but, something or someone is after her." I quickly catch my breath while speaking "I-i saw it too. " I stutter. "I don't know what's going on, c-can you maybe pick us up please?! I'm worried sick about her,sh-she  keeps glancing at the windows! mom please!" I say anxiously. "What? Is your sister okay? What do you mean someone?! Is-" my mother asks too many questions not even I have the courage to answer. "Mom please!" Tears run down my cheeks as I breathe heavily. "Okay, don't you worry. I'll get the car started." She says. "Thank you mom! Thank you!" A small taste of terror exits my body, I think to myself "we're safe." Or so I thought.

my Mom drives us home, as Mari's hands are wrapped in mine. As a jolly tune plays in the background.
