Orville: Phoenix

Chapter 6

On a desert battlefield, eleven Federation soldiers, including Jessica and her ten troopers, are engaged in a fierce battle as they make their way towards a Moclan battlefield camp. Despite advancing slowly, they are making progress. After fifteen minutes of intense fighting, they reach the first trench, eliminating the Moclan defenders. However, they find themselves pinned down by heavy Moclan guns, a situation that Jessica, her major, and the Turian Captain had feared. The Federation soldiers return fire from the trench, but the call for medics goes out. Jessica calls her captain over to discuss their options.

"We need to move now before those guns wipe us out!" her captain shouts.

"We can't! If we fall back, we're dead! If we advance, we're dead! Hell, if we stay, we're dead!" Jackie exclaims on their officers' channel.

"What we need is orbital assistance! It's a shame we can't get Orville to help..." Varrian remarks. Jessica gets an idea.

"Jackson! Are you still alive?" Jessica calls out to her radioman.

"Yeah, barely. Why?" he responds.

"Patch me through to the Orville now!" Jessica orders.

"You got it, boss!" Jackson quickly establishes contact with the Orville.

10 Minutes Before Ovrvill Emergency Call
On the bridge of the Orville, Captain Ed Mercer sits at his chair, reviewing reports that Kelly had sent him, his mind still filled with the memories of the intense yet blissful night he had shared with his girlfriend, Jessica. He notices that she was not in bed with him when he woke up, but he then remembers that she had an early morning exercise operation, so he isn't too concerned.

As Ed reads the report, Kelly observes her ex-husband and friend, noticing how genuinely happy he seems. It has been years since she has seen him this happy, not since the incident with the Krill turning human and then back to Krill. She hopes that his happiness with Jessica is genuine, although it is still too early to tell. Kelly is aware of the heated argument between Jessica and her major, and she knows that Jessica wanted to talk to Ed about it. Ed sought Kelly's advice, considering it falls within her domain, and he expressed his gratitude when she arrived on the bridge.

"So... how was your night?" Kelly asks, as Ed continues to read the padd.

"It was intense at first, but it calmed down once Jessica had a heart-to-heart with the major," Ed responds, his attention still focused on the padd. Suddenly, the Moclan officer informs them that they are receiving a transmission from the Federal team in the simulator.

"Patch it through," Kelly orders, and the sounds of fighting and calls for medics fill the bridge, putting the crew on edge. However, Ed and Kelly remain composed, aware of the ongoing exercise.

"Field Marshall, come in," Ed addresses Jessica as her image appears on the viewing screen, her sweat-covered face filling the screen.

"Orville! I need you to send data telemetry for an orbital strike!" Jessica urgently requests. Ed turns to Kelly, seeking her input.

"It makes sense. If they're on board, we need to be ready to help them," Kelly gives her approval, understanding that the request is coming from Ed's girlfriend, even though she is currently acting as the Field Marshall.

"Issac, do it! Jesse, data inbound," Ed instructs, expressing his gratitude to Issac for complying.

"Can we watch the battle?" Ed asks, and Talla brings up the simulation on their screens and the main view screen.

"My God, that's intense fighting..." The Orville's helm pilot, exclaims.

They observe the positions of the Federal team, with three members confirmed "dead" and a few more wounded. The audio feed starts to come through.
