Everything has an end, and everything has a beginning.
Salem Montemant is more familiar with the middle of things. Her realm is considered a way point for souls before they pass on. The Shadow Realm takes in the dead with unfinished business, the dead who crave revenge. For years, they had gotten their revenge by feeding on the souls of the living who passed into their realm. For years, the Connected rulers feed their subjects without remorse, stealing innocent people off the streets and leaving them in the shadows.
When Salem inherited the realm, she put an end to uncontrolled feeding. The souls were angry at the beginning, but as time went on, they managed to realize that maybe not over powering themselves was a good.
Some souls, however, thought differently.
The Shadow Realm and the real world are two completely different places. In the Shadow Realm, Salem is considered their queen. She rules peacefully with her advisor, Silas, at her side. In the real world, she is known as the vigilante Moth. She hides in the shadows and stops criminals, using her abilities for good. She controls the shadows, the shadows do not control her.
