She was sore.
She had died many ways since being in the prison world. The first time was an accident. She was hiking and fell from the side of the mountain. Her werewolf healing wasn't strong enough to save her from that first death, nor many others that followed.
When Kai knew she wouldn't die in the prison world either, he would just kill her when he was bored. Thirteen times he killed her, with guns, knives, and even with her magic that he siphoned and used against her. It wasn't her proudest moment. Yet, she had never died by having her neck snapped before. It was pretty quick, and she was surprised there wasn't any stiffness. She sat up from her place on the couch- at least they had the decency to move her there- and spotted Damon sitting in the chair next to her.
"So, you were telling the truth about the not dying thing at least," Damon quipped.
"Yeah," She swung her legs over and sat facing the vampire, "So if you could, you know, not kill me again I would appreciate it. Where'd Bonnie go?"
"She's busy practicing her useless magic... again," he said while taking a large gulp of his bourbon.
Erith got up and walked to the dining room where Bonnie stood over her grimoire with candles surrounding her. Erith watched her for a few minutes while she flipped through the book, then looked up and tried to light the candles. She failed time and time again, just like usual.
"You know, I can tell if you have magic or not." Erith said, making Bonnie jump in shock from hearing her voice, "Sorry, didn't mean to startle you. But- uh if I try to siphon from you and it works, that would mean you do have magic. Then it would just be up to you to get it working again. Do you want me to try?"
Bonnie looked over to her and took a moment to respond, "Yeah, let's try it."
Erith walked to the table and sat next to Bonnie, "I should warn you that it'll hurt. Are you okay with that?" Bonnie nodded in response, so Erith gripped her hand and pulled magic into herself. Bonnie gasped and hunched over, so Erith quickly released her hand. Erith smiled and said, "Well you do have magic. It's up to you to figure out how to use it."
"I don't understand why I can't do it then," Bonnie looked down at the hand Erith had just held, her brows furrowed.
Erith shrugged and said, "Not sure. Magic came easily to me after I triggered the werewolf curse and the witches in the Gemini Coven don't usually get blocks. Not that they would've gone to me if they did have a block. I only lived with them for six years and they all hated me."
"You learned magic after triggering your curse?" Bonnie's head shot up like this information would be important.
"Sort of, I didn't practice magic when I was a kid because I didn't want to hurt my mom. When I moved in with my uncle, I got close with one of my cousins and she let me siphon from her. She said it didn't hurt her, but I realize now she was probably lying about that. She even spelled necklaces for me to wear so I could siphon the magic from them and defend myself. But siphoning from myself was different from siphoning her or the necklaces, so I guess I learned again at that point, but I spent my entire life learning magic from my mom and then was surrounded by the Gemini Coven so maybe that helped?" Erith's mother ensured she learned magic like any other witch, even if she couldn't practice the spells she was learning. It seemed useless to her now that she was trapped in the prison world.
"How did you adjust to the changes?"
"If I've learned anything from being a siphon, it's that magic is all about flow. The source of magic for a witch differs depending on what type of witch they are, for most the source comes from nature. Something we all do is let the magic flow through us. Maybe that's your issue? Or your connection with nature?" Erith truly had no idea what was going on, but if throwing her best guess at Bonnie could make her feel better that's what she'd do.
