Chapter 18: A Talk With Adam

The banger above is in absolutely no way relevant to this chapter's plot/story but I'm giving it to you anyway because it's just a banger.

Also I feel like some of the characters may act a bit unlike their canon self so I'm sorry about that.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't Lucifer himself!"

"Adam."

"I must say, it must suck a lot with so many things going on in your territory!"

"Yes, I guess it does." Lucifer rolled his eyes sarcastically.

Vox stood beside Lucifer in silence, scowling at the angel's behaviour. To Vox, Adam sounded like a jerk who would look down on sinners because he's an angel.

Most angels think of themselves to be a higher ranking than those in hell, which is mostly true although their power is similar to Charlie's and Lillith's, therefore sit at a lower rank than Lucifer or the seven princes of hell. And due to this mentality, they seem to sound more arrogant when they're actually not.

"Now, you wanted to discuss the next extermination? How fun!" Adam clapped his hands. "What do you have in mind?"

"There is one sinner that needs to be gone. Immediately."

"Oh? Which one?"

"You know who."

Adam's sarcastic smile dropped quicker than the titanic. He frowned with a mix of worry, fear and anger.

"Him?!" He stood up and slammed his hands on the table. "No, we are not! Do you even know how many we've lost up there because of him?!"

"He's going to take over hell, and we can't risk losing!" Lucifer stood up.

"Why can't you do it yourself?! You're the king of this wretched place, I'm sure you can handle a sinner!"

"We both know he isn't just a sinner."

Adam glared at Lucifer, trying to come up with another excuse. Knowing he had nothing up his sleeve, he scoffed.

"I'm still not going to help."

Lucifer rolled his eyes. "Are you seriously going to just risk losing what you all are trying to accomplish with the exterminations?"

"I don't think you get it." Adam folded his arms. "We are running low on people ascending to heaven! His power already equals ours, or in this case, the entirety of heaven!"

"Don't you have the almighty themselves?!"

"They are too busy tending to the world that you've left crumbling! They cannot focus on two things that need full attention!"

Lucifer fell back into his seat, sighing. He glanced at Vox, an idea forming in his head.

"Say, what if we make a deal?"

Adam raised an eyebrow. "I'm not trading my soul with the likes of you."

"No, no, a simple deal."

"... Tell me."

"He'll provide you with powerful technology to help you all, and in return you help us get rid of the main problem." Lucifer pointed to Vox.

Vox and Adam widened their eyes. The overlord was both satisfied and confused, but he was willing to accept it anyway, considering that he will most likely gain power from it.

"If you don't accept this deal, well, you can expect to say goodbye to everything you've all tried to accomplish over evil."

Adam frowned, thinking about whether to accept the deal or not. He didn't want to admit it, but what Lucifer was telling him about declining the offer was true.

"You know what? We do need some technology to make our lives easier. I heard from some of my dear angels that you lot have more advanced technology down here. Especially you."

The angel pointed his index finger at Vox.

"The little birdies tell me that you have tried to contact me twice this year."

Lucifer turned to Vox with a questioning look. Vox began to feel uncomfortable. He didn't want Lucifer to know what he was trying to do. Especially not at this moment.

"Uh... yes, that is true."

"Hahaha! Look who's in trouble now!" Adam laughed.

Vox eyes's met with Lucifer's. However they weren't filled with anger, dismay, disappointment or disgust. What was going through his mind?

Whatever it was, Lucifer was a natural at concealing it.

"Hmm... I guess I can't say no to this." Said Adam as the overlord and the fallen angel directed their attention to him.

"So it's a deal?" Lucifer held his hand out.

Adam sighed and laughed, pushing Lucifer's hand away. "Yes, it's a deal."

Lucifer frowned at the angel pushing his hand away, but he brushed it off knowing he had the deal sealed.

"Hey... I know you." Adam looked at Vox with a smirk. "Aren't you that guy who defeated the... what was his name? The Radio Demon? When was it... seven years ago?"

Vox cleared his throat. "Ahem, yes. I did defeat him."

"Honestly, I'm quite glad you did the dirty work for us in chasing him away. That demon was proving to be a problem for us. Apparently he did a lot of hideous things when he was still alive."

"...Thank... you?"

Adam laughed again. Vox was starting to feel a bit humiliated, saying thank you to an angel. He'd yet to be glad that no other sinners or overlords were around. Especially the other Vees. They'd definitely laugh their heads off.

"Hahahahahahahaha! No, I'm not really that glad." Said Adam, looking at Vox's humiliated expression. "What, you really think I'd thank the likes of you demons? Hahaha! Dream on!"

"Shall we just get on with the deal?" Asked Lucifer, his eye twitching with annoyance.

"Hmm... okay. But first, I want to know what he'll give me." Adam smirked at Lucifer and Vox with a smug look. Lucifer frowned, knowing that Adam had just fooled him and had the power to call off the deal once he got what he desired without any curses or whatever happening.

Lucifer looked at Vox with urgency.

"Uh... well, I'm developing something that can provide holographic versions of you... like you're in two places at the same time."

Adam blinked at the overlord. "So you're saying that I could be in heaven, and when I have to meet this goofball over here," he pointed to Lucifer, "I don't have to physically travel there, and with this technology I can create a holographic version of me to be there instead?"

Vox nodded. "Yes. Something like that."

Adam scratched his chin for a minute, thinking.

"Hmmm... alright." Said Adam, satisfied.

"Phew... and my wife tells me he will never be satisfied." Lucifer whispered to Vox.

Adam snapped his fingers, summoning a map of the Pride ring of hell.

"Now... what's the plan?"
