Just, try to take it easy. Come on Theo, you've got this. I focus on the earth in front of me, the grass blowing in the wind.
"Do you think you can do it?" Leo asks behind me.
"Shh!" I reply.
The grass. The earth. Sweet, delicious strawberries. I feel a light vibration, like a buzzing, travelling between my hands and the ground. I see little sprouts emerge, slowly growing larger and larger, until there are bushes full of ripe strawberries.
I stand up, but almost collapse. Leo is waiting beside me with a square of ambrosia. "Another one down!" He smiles at me cheerfully.
"Yeah, I'm going to fight the giants with strawberries." I scoff, taking a sip from my water bottle.
"Hey, we can mark Demeter off the list now." He rubs my back comfortingly. "And the more you practice, the easier it'll get."
Leo is right. I sigh, waves of worry washing over me. I've been going through a list of the gods, figuring out and practicing different abilities. The most shocking so far has been my gift from Hermes. I can actually teleport myself. It's really difficult, and the first few times I did it, I ended up in the infirmary, but it's getting easier.
"Leo, there's no way I'm going to learn everything by the time the ship is done." I insist.
"Well, you'll at least have a better understanding." He takes the ambrosia from my hand. "Now, again."
"Leo..."
"Again." He insists, nodding his head towards the bushes. "The more you do it, the easier it gets."
I turn back to the grass and put my fingers back on the earth.
