So the boys' toilet in the upper part of my school was closed some time ago. Today we found out why: The toilet that was previously only for boys is now a unisex, i.e. gender-neutral, toilet.
Tbh, I was quite surprised at first because no one ever talked about it. No one had ever mentioned transsexuality (etc.) before. Somehow there was always a problem with someone who's part oft the lgbtq+ community, which I think is a shame.
Personally, I think it's good that this toilet now exists, but not everyone seems to see it that way.
The unisex and girls' toilets are next to each other and when I went to wash my hands, I heard a couple of 6th and 7th graders talking outside the door. "These are toilets for gays."
"That's where the bi-shits go."
"That's so gay."
To be honest, I was very angry. On the one hand, the people aren't even right about what they're saying and on the other hand, they can't care if it doesn't affect them, can they?
I also talked to my best friend [F] about it.
[F]: But I still only see boys going to that toilet.
I then told her that she couldn't know that. Just because someone has short hair doesn't mean they're a boy, right?
What do you think of this and - if you still go to school - do you also have unisex toilets?
