The horror of the night was finally out of my sight. The room was clean. Not a blood spot to be found. Her body was now discarded in the middle of a lake far off and I was left grabbing my things from my office as the sun rose.

"Well, I think that went pretty well if I say so myself." Said Jd as he put on his coat.

"...yeah..." I responded in a quiet tone as I grabbed up my lunch bag off my desk. "I'm going to head home now considering work will probably be canceled for the day due to..."

"Wait, do you think I could come over or that we could get something to eat later?"

I let out a sigh knowing it probably wasn't the best to continue to be around him but, I shook my head while approving him to get dinner with me tonight.

And with that I took my leave.

I drove right out of that parking garage and home as fast as I could. I felt a sense of paranoia even though I knew that the way we did it, we wouldn't be caught...or at least easily.

-
I opened the door to my apartment and walked in setting everything down my stuff on one of the kitchen counter stools. I can't believe I just had a hand in a murder. It was a confusing feeling to figure out. Especially with him. He made my emotions, feelings, and my sense to know right and wrong a maze.

On one hand I was still coming down from the utter horrific mess but, on the other I was feeling...thankful? Cared for? Loved?....

That might seem like something unfathomable but, the way he did something as insane as that...for me? To make sure I would be alright and safe?

That's just...woah.

Yes, I know this is wrong but I'm kinda on a rule of feeling things I shouldn't so might as well say...I get minor butterflies from him caring this deeply for me.

Oh god Veronica you've gone mad....madly in love...UGH HUSH THIS IS WRONG!

I feel like my internal monologue is fighting with itself.

One side is the rational Veronica I've known my whole life and the other is this new love deranged Veronica who has become a Bonnie to Jd's Clyde.

Whatever, this is too much. I need a damn nap.

-
After my nap, I wake up to the sound of my phone ringing only to see Jd's name plastered on the screen.

I groggily accept it while brushing messy hair away from my face.

"Hello?"

"Hello darling, it's around dinner time. Are we still doing that?"

Shit! The dinner! I must've slept for....I check my clock...10 HOURS!

"Oh shit I'm so sorry I meant to take a 2 hour nap and then that turned into a 10 hour nap." I let out an embarrassed chuckle as I hear him laugh a little on the other side of the phone.

"Damn. Well what do say? We still on for dinner? I can pick you up at 6:30 since it's five now so that would give y'a some time."

"Yeah that's perfect actually. See y'a."

I stretch a bit before getting out of my comfy velvet blue bedding and heading to my bathroom to take a quick shower.

The water heats fast thankfully and I get in letting the water warm me as I think about what I'll be wearing. Blue is my color so probably that new blue silk dress I bought would be good but, something about the purple one with some sparkle accents sounds appealing.

After about 20 minutes I get out and blow dry my thick dark brown hair before picking out the dress of choice.

Okay, I'll admit I played it safe with the blue one but next time I'll wear the purple one I promise.

I slipped it on and struggled with the zipper before heading back to my bathroom to give myself some curls. Halfway through curling my hair though, I had a thought.

What if he just meant casual dinner....

-
Good thing he didn't!

He showed up when he said dressed in a nice black suit with...a blue tie! Wow are we telepathic now?

"Wow, you look stunning." He let out in amazement as he saw me stand in my doorway.

"Thanks, good thing you didn't mean casual dinner cause..." I look down at myself to gesture to my outfit and we collectively let out a small laugh.

He then holds out his hand and I hold it as we walk out of my apartment and to his car.

"M'lady."

I giggle as I get in the side of the car he was holding the door open on. Once I'm seated he closes the door and gets in the drivers side.

He starts the car while asking me if I have any music preferences.

When I get asked to play something in a car I kinda forget everyone I listen to.

"Uh.....that's a good question..."

"Oh come on your always playing music in that office of yours. There has to be something you can play for us!"

"Okay okay uhmmm how about Renee Rapp?"

"Alright sounds good with me. I heard she has quite some talent. She was on Broadway right?"

"Yeah! Im surprised you know that."

"I guess you could say I like a good show tune now and then."

I chuckle as 'Pretty Girls' starts playing over the black speakers that line some of the interior of the car.

The sun is setting and it casts a gorgeous glow over us as we travel through the city that is constantly full of life.

-
Eventually,like all places,we arrive.

The music cuts off as he takes the keys out of the ignition and gets out of the car to open my door for me. He then locks the car before we head into the...really fucking fancy restaurant....and wow..I'm not gonna ask how he is able to take me here..I'm just gonna enjoy it. After all, I think I deserve some good after that head spinning night.
