FRIDAY 16TH OCTOBER - HOGWARTS LIBRARY - 4:35PM

"In the library again Dennis?" Astoria teased.

Dennis looked up from his table, where he had been engrossed in a pile of books. Astoria stood before him, a playful smirk on her face.

"Well, it seems like the perfect place to be if you want to learn something," Dennis replied with a grin.

Astoria chuckled, taking a seat across from him. "True enough. What are you studying today?"

Dennis leaned back, stretching his arms. "Oh, you know, a bit of everything. Hogwarts history, magical creatures, and a touch of advanced charms. Just trying to keep up with the workload."

Astoria raised an eyebrow. "Advanced charms? That sounds ambitious. Planning to become the next Charms Master?"

Dennis laughed, a bit self-conscious. "Well, maybe not the next one, but I wouldn't mind being really good at it. Besides, I find it fascinating."

Astoria nodded approvingly. "Ambition is a good quality. What's your favorite charm so far?"

Dennis pondered for a moment. "I think the Patronus Charm. The idea of summoning a protective force with your happiest memory is quite incredible."

Astoria's eyes lit up. "I love the Patronus Charm! Have you managed to produce one yet?"

Dennis grinned. "Not yet, but I'm determined to get it right. It's on my magical bucket list."

Astoria leaned in with a conspiratorial smile. "I can help you with that, you know. I'm quite skilled with charms."

Dennis raised an eyebrow. "Really? Well, I might take you up on that offer."

Astoria put on a fake thinking face, "I don't know if Natalie would appeciate me taking up her boyfriend's time though,"

Dennis paused, "Natalie MacDonald? I am not Natalie's boyfriend. Not in this life, and not in the next," he glared playfully at Astoria, "Why would you think that?"

Astoria bit back a cheer, "No reason,"

Dennis shrugged and continued flipping through the pages of his Charms book, occasionally taking notes. A section caught his eye.

"You know," Dennis began, "I've been reading a bit about blood curses lately. There's something fascinating and mysterious about the magical ailments some families carry through their bloodlines."

Astoria's eyes flickered with a hint of surprise, but she maintained her composure. "Blood curses, you say? It's a complex branch of magical study. What specifically caught your interest?"

Dennis hesitated for a moment, choosing his words carefully. "Well, the idea that certain magical conditions can be passed down through generations, affecting individuals in unique ways. It's like the magic itself carries a story, linking family members across time."

Astoria nodded, a thoughtful expression on her face. "Indeed, blood curses can be intricate and often carry the weight of history. It's a subject not many delve into willingly."

The conversation continued, exploring various magical maladies and their historical significance. Dennis found himself more intrigued, sensing that there was more to Astoria's knowledge than she let on.

As the clock in the library ticked away, Astoria finally broke the flow of the discussion, her eyes meeting Dennis's with a mix of uncertainty and determination.

"Dennis, I need to tell you something," she said, her voice carrying a certain weight.
