Morning came much faster than Ava would've liked, her and Tom had spent most of the night simply laying contently in each others arms not even bothering to utter a word just enjoying being in each other's presence.
Ava wished more than anything that she and Ash would've been able to suit up and join them on this mission. Obviously she knows both Tom and Pete are exceptional pilots and Goose and Slider will always have their backs, but it's hard for her to trust that everything will be alright.
The control freak part of her thinks that if she was there with them and had their backs herself that it would make a difference, that she could keep them safe. But unfortunately, if there's one thing the female pilot has learned is that flying is unpredictable.
She just has to hope and pray that everyone comes back in one piece.
Ava had drove both Tom and Slider to the carrier, they were going to be departing from the naval docks a few miles away from base. She wanted to give them along with her brother and Goose a proper send off.
"Upset you're not going with us Chaos?" Slider piped up from the backseat
"Eh, I figured it's time to give you boys a shot at being the hero for once. I've got plenty of other ops in my future." Ava smirked making both men chuckle
"Damn right you do." Tom said grabbing her hand
Before she knew it, Ava was pulling into the parking lot. It wasn't too crowded, this was going to be a relatively quick op so not as many crew members were needed.
The trio got out of the car, Ava and Tom linking hands as Slider walked by his pilots side. Almost immediately, Ava was able to catch sight of Goose who was holding Bradley on his shoulders with Carole leaning into his side.
"I'm going to go see the guys, don't miss me too much Chaos." Slider teased making Ava roll her eyes playfully before pulling the tall man into a hug
"Oh I won't." Ava smirked pulling away before giving him a serious look. "Be careful out there Slider, bring my guy home to me in one piece."
"Ma'am yes ma'am." Slider saluted with a wink before heading off to greet Wolfman and Hollywood who were standing ready to load onto the carrier
Tom led Ava over towards Goose who immediately grinned when he saw them coming.
