What's a Snowman?

"Daddy?"

"Yeah?"

"What's a snowman?"

Louis was sitting with his 3-year-old daughter, Stella, doing some Christmas crafts before dinner. While waiting for their painted ornaments to dry, they moved on to some drawing.

"Well, you know how we get snow sometimes?" The little girl nodded in understanding. "A snowman is when snow is gathered up into balls, then stacked on top of one another. And then things are added to make a face and arms."

"Like what?"

"Well sticks are used for the arms, stones or coals for the eyes and mouth and," he leant down so he was face to face with her, "a carrot for the nose." playfully bopping her nose causing the little girl to burst into laughter.

"Would you like me to draw one?"

Stella nodded, immediately searching through the pencil tub.

Louis knew he wasn't the most skilled when it came to drawing, though in the end, the snowman on the page in front of him didn't look too bad. Or at least he thought so.

As he drew in the stick arms, Stella started giggling, clearly finding some amusement in her father's drawing.

"What are you laughing at?"

"It looks like Uncle Conan!" she giggled.

He looked at his daughter incredulously, trying to figure out where on earth she'd gotten the idea that a) Conan looked like a snowman and b) that the snowman he'd just drawn looked like Conan.

Before he could say anything though, another voice filled the room.

"What looks like Uncle Conan?"

They both looked towards the source of the comment, finding Olivia leaning against the doorframe. It looked like she'd been standing there observing for a while.

"Mummy!"

"Hey sweetheart." Olivia walked over and placed a kiss on the girl's head before sitting down next to her at the table. "What have you been up to?"

"Daddy's drawing a snowman and it looks like Uncle Conan!"

Olivia peered over the top of Stella's head, meeting and matching Louis's confused look.

"What do you mean?"

"Like in the photos, rem'ber?"

Photos? Louis thought for a moment before it clicked. A while ago, Stella had come across a box that contained photos of when Olivia and he were in high school. Among them was a collection from his senior year at Camp Sunrise Lake, which included a couple of Conan in his Olaf costume.

He remembered Stella finding them absolutely hilarious, sending herself into a laughing fit.

Louis smiled at the memory, as Olivia also stifled a laugh.

"Yeah, I do. Why don't we pack this up and you can help me with dinner?"

"Ok!"

They made quick work of the paper and pencils on the table, Stella taking the tub down to the study to put it away. Meanwhile, Louis picked up the now-dry ornaments as Olivia looked at her daughter's drawing. It featured a Christmas tree (that more looked like a green-headed spear) and the snowman that Louis had drawn, amongst many other scribbles.

"What do you think? Fridge worthy?" She asked as they stood up, moving into the kitchen, where the fridge already had an array of their daughters artwork.

"Most definitely," Louis replied, "She's pretty cute. We did well."

Coming up behind Olivia, he wrapped his arms around her waist, hands resting on the small bump that was starting to show.

"Yeah, she's going to make a great big sister."

Olivia rested her hands on top of his and twisted to give him a quick kiss.

"Yeah, she is."
