The city lights of New York flickered outside Olivia's apartment, casting a warm, gentle glow through the large windows.
Olivia was bustling around her small but charming kitchen, the aroma of freshly baked pizza wafting the air. She had just opened a bottle of her favorite wine, and the sound of the cork popping echoed softly.Tonight was special. Louis had flown in from London to visit her, and they planned to spend a quiet, cozy evening together. She could hear him moving around in the living room, setting up their impromptu movie night. The thought made her smile.
"How's it going in there?" she called out, peeking around the corner.
"Almost ready," Louis replied, his British accent making her heart flutter. "I've the movies lined up and the couch is all set."
She walked over with two glasses of wine and handed to Louis. "Perfect timing," she said, clicking her glass against his. "To a cozy night in."
They took a sip, and Olivia felt the warmth of the wine spreading through her. She set the glass down and returned to the kitchen to bring out the pizza. Louis followed, admiring the cozy, eclectic décor of her apartment.
"This place is so you." he said, taking in the colorful art on the walls and the string lights that added a whimsical touch.
"Thanks." Olivia replied, blushing slightly. "I wanted it to feel like home, especially when Im away from California."
They settled on the couch with their pizza and wine, the coffee table crowded with snacks and blankets. Olivia grabbed the remote and scrolled through their movie options. "Okay, what are we in the mood for? Romantic comedy, classic drama or something totally random?"
"How about romantic comedy?" Louis suggested, leaning back against the cushions pulling her close.
"Good choice," She agreed, selecting a movie and snuggling into his side as the opening credits rolled.
As the movie played, they shared bites of pizza and sips of wine, laughing at the funny parts and stealing glances at each other during the romantic scenes. Olivia felt a sense of contentment she hadn't felt in a while, the hectic pace of her life as a singer fading away in the warmth of Louis's presence.
Halfway through the movie, Louis gently took her hand and intertwined his fingers with hers. "I've missed this," he murmured. "Just being with you."
Olivia turned to him, her eyes soft. "Me too. It's been too long. Im so glad you're here."
He brushed a strand of hair from her face and leaned in to kiss her, a tender, lingering kiss that made her feel like the world had stopped spinning. When they pulled away, they both smiled l, a silent understanding passing between them.
The night wore on, and they finished their movie, starting another without really paying attention. They talked about everything and nothing, their voices soft and filled with affection. Eventually, Olivia dozed off, her head resting on Louis's shoulder.
Louis carefully moved her so she was laying comfortably on the couch, covering her with a blanket, He watched her sleep for a moment, his heart full. This was what he had been missing, what made the distance and the wait worthwhile.
He leaned down to kiss her forehead. "Goodnight, Liv," he whispered. "I love you."
As he settled back on the couch, holding her close, the city continued to hum outside, a gentle reminder that no matter where they were, moments like this made it all worth it.
