Waking Up

Grian woke up lying on his back in a grass field. He sat up, stretched and rubbed his eyes. He was in front of a building with a large amount of trees around him, along with giant walls around the grass, surrounding the property. "Hmm." Grian thought. "Where am I?."

He climbed to his feet and walked through the grass. His shoes were missing, but that didn't really surprise him. He didn't wear shoes often. But what did surprise him was that he couldn't remember how he got here. He couldn't even remember what he was doing before he got here. He saw his satchel laying on the ground a few meters from him, and he ran over to scoop it up.
Grian shrugged away his worry. "I probably fell asleep and the others are playing a prank on me" He muttered to himself. He started walking to the building. It looked like a school, possibly a high school. Grian sighed. He would've been in his final year of high school now, if it wasn't for them.

Grian pushed open one of the doors and entered the hall. He knew he shouldn't have been here, but his wings felt droopy and he doubted he could fly as of now. He definitely couldn't get past the walls trapping him here, so his only other option was to find someone who could help him.

"Hello?" He called out, walking down the halls. The school seemed to be empty. He moved to one of the doors and tried to swing it open. When it didn't move, Grian tried sliding it. It slid to the side.

"Sliding doors? Possibly a Japanese school?" He remembered doors like this when he went to school with Taurtis.

"Hello? Who might you be?" A small voice called behind him.

Grian turned around, but no one was there. "H-hello?"

"Down here." The voice said again. Grian looked to the ground to be met with a little mouse-bear-person.

"Hi. I didn't see you there." Grian bowed and knelt down

The bear-mouse-person bowed back. "Hello. I am Nezu."

"I'm Grian." He grinned. Nezu had an almond-shaped head that was covered in white fur, along with a long scar running over his right eye. And he was wearing a suit. That was the best part.

"Well, it's nice to meet you." Nezu said. "Now, do you mind explaining why you're here? You don't seem to be a student."

"Oh, umm." Grian shook his head. "I don't know how I got here. I just woke up in the field outside."

"Hmm, strange." Nezu put his paw-hand on his chin. "Well, I could check the cameras. Would you like to come?"

"Sure!" Grian said. "I mean, I don't necessarily have anywhere else to go, so, yes. "

"Then follow." Nezu turned and walked down the hall. Grian walked behind him

"So, Grian, What is your quirk?" Nezu asked while keeping his stride.

"My quirk? I'm not sure what you mean."

"Your quirk. The uncanny ability that eighty percent of the world is born with."

Grian was silent. "Umm, ok. I think I am very far from home."

"By what do you mean?"

"I've never heard of a 'quirk.' And I don't think I have one." Grian explained.

Nezu stopped and looked at the hermit. "You have wings, do you not? That would seem to be a quirk."

"I-I have wings because I'm a hybrid. A human-parrot hybrid."

"Interesting." Nezu continued walking. Grian noticed that they were the only ones in the halls, and that the building was extremely quiet.

"Where is everyone else? You said there were students." He asked, following behind him.

"The students, along with their teachers, are training. The buildings are always empty during this time." Nezu said, then more quietly. "It's quite lonely."

"Why don't you train with them?" Grian noticed the sadness in his voice.

"I'm the principal. I have more important things to do."

"Then why are you walking through the halls?"

Nezu paused. "Because I'm bored!" He said cheerfully. "Ok now, we're here!"

The two of them stopped in front of an opened door. Inside the room, there were monitors, computers and different kinds of equipment that Grian couldn't even name. Mumbo would understand all of this.

"In here, we can check the cameras set up around the school. This is also where you will stay until I am certain that you are not a villain."

Grian looked at the small man(?). "Excuse me? I don't believe I heard you correctly."

"Since I do not yet know who you are, you will stay here until Aizawa returns. He will help me determine if you are a villain or not." Nezu explained.

"Umm," Grian looked back at the room. It seemed a lot smaller now. "I'm not exactly great with small spaces." He chuckled nervously.

"Claustrophobic?" Nezu asked.

"Extremely."

Nezu walked into the room. "Then I guess you could stay in one of the classrooms. They're larger than this."

"Thank you." Grian sighed joyfully.

"But you will stay with me to check the feed." Nezu ordered. Grian didn't think of the small mouse man as threatening before, but now he definitely seemed so.

"Yeah, I'll stay." Grian walked into the room and stood next to a chair. Nezu was struggling to push some books onto his seat.

"Oh, let me get that." Grian offered. He grabbed a stack of books and placed them on the seat of the chair. Nezu scrambled up the books and sat down.

"Thank you. My size is nothing but a grievance." Nezu sighed.

"I understand. I'm the smallest person in my group of friends." Grian sat next to him.

Nezu started typing on the keyboard. "Where did you say you woke up?" He asked.

"In the fields in front of the school. The one on the right."

"Ok" Nezu pulled up a window showing the field.

"I woke up there about twenty minutes ago." Grian added.

"Then I will rewind thirty minutes and you and I can watch it from there." Nezu said. "Keep your eye out."

The two of them watched the video, watching for anything suspicious. For most of the video, the field was empty, with no sign that Grian was ever there. Then, at the twenty-five minute marker, golden dust lifted out of the grass, making a small cloud over the field. When the dust faded, there sat the hermit, unconscious.

"That is, strange." Nezu said. They'd been there for a few minutes, and Nezu said the others would be back soon.

"Well, we can come back to this later." Nezu continued. "Now, would you be so kind as to stay in one of the classrooms?"

"Yeah. Let's get going." Grian said.
