Carter POV

Words. Words I absolutely hate. Love. Joy. Kindness. Words that are feelings and actions I was never taught to express. As heir to the biggest mafia business, I was taught 3 things. Be heartless, cold and powerful. So, I obeyed. Never complained, never shouted and never said anything at all. Until today. My grandfather, Ace Hernandez was the the leader of the biggest mafia company globally. It got passed down to my father and it was about to get passed down to me. But for me to earn the inheritance, there was one tiny little thing that I didn't agree with. Marriage. In order for me to be able to earn the company, I had to be married.

I didn't get it. If I was going to rule the mafia world, why would I need a wife. I was already powerful. I didn't need to be married. But according to the Hernandez legacy, I had to obey. If I didn't, I would never be able to continue the family legacy, meaning I would be a disappointment. Father slapped me in the face and told me to go to my room so I could 'think about what I just did'. I didn't understand. I sat on my bed, head in my hands. Inheriting the company is the most important priority in the world. Well for my father, it is.

I'm only 18. I'm just a senior in high school. I can't be a married man. I'm not even a man. My phone rings, taking me out of my thoughts. I pick it up.
"Hello?"
"Hey man, you finish panicking?"
It's my best friend, Marc.
"Nah, haven't even started."
"Damn. You're gonna take your bike tomorrow right?"
"Obviously."
"K! See ya Carty!!"
"Hey I told not t-"
He hangs up before I could start getting angry. I sigh and put the phone down into my bed. I look at the empty suitcase, on top of my desk. I get up and start packing all sorts of things. Clothes, toiletry, school books and some weapons for safety. I'm nearly done packing and sounds of droplets ring my ear. I look out the window, seeing water on the glass. My hand reaches for my phone, dialling Marc.
"Hey man, you up for a ride?"

Evangeline POV:

I groan as my alarm clock rings on my bedside table. I spent the whole of last night packing clothes, books, papers and a whole bunch of other things. Jacqueline said she'll pick me up at 6:30 in the morning. I look out the window to see water dripping down. It was rainy. My favourite weather. I get ready and prepped to leave. I look at my library for he last time until I am out for 5 months in school. Some books are missing because I'm taking them to the boarding houses. Jacqueline texts me that she's arrived and I quietly walk down the hallway. I leave a note on Nathan's door, wishing him luck at college and bidding goodbye. I step outside, looking around for Jack's car.
"EVEY!! HERE!!"
I hear my name and I smile, walking to her car.

I put my suitcases into the trunk and hop into the passengers seat.
"EVEYY!! ITS BEEN SO LOOONG" says Jack as she hugs me tight. She hits a bruise and I whimper slightly.
"OH SORRY IM SO SORR-"
"It's fine my goodness calm down."
We catch up on the way to school. Jacqueline was my only friend that knew about my father. Her father is a business man and works together with mine. We haven't been seperatable since. Jack's a burst of sunshine. She's popular amongst the school kids for her money and looks. I mean she was perfect. Clean skin, blond locks with model type body shape. But she was so much more than that. She was the nicest girl, a person should ever meet. A sweet smile and amazing personality. I was lucky to have a friend like her.
