Meera's POV:

"Something something something something"

The TV blasts my favourite song, as the movie plays on screen. Meanwhile, I'm busy baking cookies in the kitchen to give to my neighbour. The apartments here are so big and exclusive that there are only two flats on each floor, meaning I only had one neighbour to greet. The thing with me is that I have to have old Tollywood movies playing in the background while I'm doing other things, like cooking, cleaning, sometimes even studying. Today's victim was Nuvvostante Nenoddantana, a classic 2005 rom-com. I dance around the kitchen, being wary of the maid, Lakshmi, who was washing the dishes.

I put the cookie tray in the oven, yes this apartment has an OVEN, whilst I plop myself down on the sofa to finish the movie. "Laksmhi..." I call out to her.

"Yes maam."

"Pakkintallu gurinchi evanna telusa?" (Do you know anything about the neighbours?)

"Nenu emi cheppalenu amma, aina sangathi naaku telidhu. intlo pani cheyatam matrame." (I cant tell you anything, I don't know much about him. I only work in his house.)

ITS A HIM?!?! Hopefully he's hot.... I'd love a hot neighbour.

I get up to part of the movie where they Siri and Santhosh get trapped in the shower because of a dog, when the oven alarm rings. I spring up from the couch and get my oven mitts to open the door and pull out a fresh tray of cookies. The sweet smell instantly fills the room and I cant help but pull a cookie off the table and bite into it, burning my tongue in the process.

"Noru kalinatu undhi amma..." (I think you burnt your tongue..) Lakshmi says trying not to giggle.

"Thanks Lakshmi, bale cheppavu. Naaku cheppakapothe thelisedhi kaadhu." (Thanks Lakshmi. I wouldn't have known if you hadn't told me.) I laugh, before I chug a glass of cold water to try and soothe the pain.

Packing the cookies into a small box, I open the door and head down the hall. I eagerly knock on the door and patiently wait for the man living inside to open. A little girl opens the door slightly and sticks her head out through the gap. From what I can see, she looks around 2-3 years of age, her hair pulled into two little pigtails at the top of her head. Damn. The guy next door has a kid, and probably a wife, meaning he's no longer an option. "Evaru??" (who is it?) she asks in a sweet voice, slightly mispronouncing the word.

"Hii cutie!" I bend down so I'm face to face with the cute little girl. She smiles, revealing dimples in either cheek. "Amma Nanna, unnara?" (Is your mum or dad home?)

She shakes her head to indicate "no" and I am instantly confused. What sort of parents leave their 2 year old home alone? Unless she was with a babysitter or family. The girl opens her mouth to speak, before closing it again.

"VAIBHAVI." I hear a loud male voice from inside the house. Thank god she wasn't left there alone. Vaibhavi turns around, still leaving the door open and heads further inside the house. I take the opportunity to stand back up. "Enni sarilu cheppali door open cheyyodu ani?" (How many times do I have to tell you to not open the door?) He asks. I hear him walking closer to the door before it fully opens with one swing.
