Meera's POV:

My ears ring with the sounds of the announcement bell in the Rajiv Gandhi Airport and the roll of my suitcase against the smooth floor. I'd always loved the airport, but part of me wished that I was travelling to Australia to see my brother and Aarti, instead of going to Chennai for the Hyderabad Heroes first IPL match of the season. Nevertheless, I had my game face on, my cutest outfit and hours of Gilmore Girls downloaded for my 1 hour 40 minute plane journey.

Before you guys judge me, you never know what could happen and I liked to be prepared. Like if our flight got hijacked I'd have enough episodes to keep me sane.

"Meera! Over here!" Stefan's voice breaks me out of whatever trance I locked myself in and I march over to the check-in desks where the rest of the team is. Upon instinct, my eyes find themselves searching for a pair familiar from a few nights ago, my shoulders dropping when I fail to locate them. Come on Meera. You are focusing on your career now. But even as Stefan helps me lift my massive suitcase onto the weights, and even as the attendant at the desk hands me my boarding pass, all I can think of is where Arjun Kumar is.

I know I should be mad after how our conversation ended. He straight up just told me we could never be friends. Like yeah we can't be friends because I don't think friends feel the way I do when I see you. But he didn't mean it in that way. He meant in the cold Arjun way, the I'm better than you way, the I'll never like you type of way. I let out a deep exhale to join the members of the team who had already checked in.

Coach was making angry phone calls to who I assume to be Arjun, but there was no response from the other end of line, making him visibly distressed. On his right, Dr Alluri works on helping Siddarth, one of the bowlers, remove items from his heavy suitcase so he could attempt check in again. Siddarth must sense me looking at him, as he turns around and shoots me a wink. I can feel my cheeks start to heat up, but he fails to elicit a comparable reaction to what I experience from Arjun.

We slowly make our way towards the boarding gate and there's still no Arjun in sight. Instead, I see Sneha and Navya already seated, waiting to board and make my way over to them. However, before I can even take a step I hear the clearing of a throat behind me and find Siddarth's face in view. His sharp amber eyes pierce mine and my eyes instinctively back away and fall on the slit in his left eyebrow, before dropping to his sharp and chiseled jawline.

"Like what you see?" He chuckles. I very much did, but his looks were nowhere near as good as Arjun's. I'd never spoken to Siddarth before, only exchanged quick smiles in passing, so this was a weird experience for me. I nervously laugh and expect him to sense the awkwardness, when he doesn't and continues speaking. My brain blocks out all the words and nods at the pieces of information, my eyes looking anywhere but his. Fine, I'll admit it, they were looking for Arjun. "Anyways..." He holds his phone out to me, "Put your number in here and I'll text you later." I freeze and Siddarth actually catches the context clue. "Meera where is your brain today? You just agreed to give me your number because I have a surprise for you before the game tonight." Oh. So that's what I nodded at. I sigh and plug my number into his phone, handing it back to him and taking a seat next to Sneha.

Not long after, the flight attends call out boarding and Sneha, Navya and Karthik sit together, leaving me in the middle seat with Dr Alluri at window side. There is still no sign of Arjun and everyone on the team appears tense. Well, everyone except Siddarth that is, who takes the opportunity to sneak glances at me from his seat. "Coach.." He begins to speak, "since Arjun isn't here does this mean I'm Captaining this match." Before Coach can get a word in, a familiar deep voice interrupts him.
