Kit Davies
"She's not even been gone two days and you want to do what?"
Again, I began explaining my plan to Cory, "I'm going to get Scarlet to talk to Emmy so that Emmy will speak to me again; even if that means interrupting Scarlet's honeymoon with Nick."
Cory rolled his eyes, "You're one lucky bastard right now Kit Davies. If Nick were here, you would be in the hospital right now for all the stupid shit that comes out of your mouth."
Whatever, Nick wasn't here right now so I might as well take advantage of the opportunity.
Cory of course thought my plan was careless and, all in all, just a stupid idea. But anything was better than not talking to Emmy. Even when we planned her debut No. 1 party, we rarely talked as she did almost everything through texts.
Although, I think the main reason she won't talk to me is because I made it look like I was making out with one of her best friends a few days ago. Her flustered face turned me on so much and I just needed to talk to her again. I even miss talking about how many cups we needed for the party. I am desperate and if texting Scarlet will get Emmy talking again, then texting Scarlet is exactly what I was willing to do.
I patted Cory on the back and smiled as I left him to go to my next class, English. I hesitated slightly, watching from afar as Emmy entered the room before bounding in behind her. I placed the thick envelope on Mr Morrison's desk - as promised - and snatched the seat next to Emmy in the middle of the class. Glancing at her, I rocked back on the heels of my feet.
Mr Morrison eventually finished tapping on his computer and opened the envelope I had placed beside him. He counted the notes before slipping them into his top drawer. He then stood up to take the class, "As always, we will need to assess you on your understanding, writing and speaking aspects of the course. Since the speaking section is the easiest, we will be giving presentations in three weeks."
The whole class groaned in annoyance but Mr Morrison just smiled, "In addition to this, as the school values teamwork and cooperation, this presentation will be completed in pairs. The content and delivery of these talks should be of the highest quality. The presentations will be based on a classic novel you could've picked to study last year - let's see how many of you revised over the summer."
Mr Morrison walked around the room selecting pairs. A few of the girls at the back of the room shuffled around, trying to be paired with friends. Emmy tried to do the same but was caught red handed by Mr Morrison.
"Miss Barker. How about we partner you with... Mr Davies! I hope to hear a wonderful presentation from the two of you."
Emmy tried to protest but Mr Morrison claimed his word was final. I didn't even need to ask Scarlet for a favour as Plan A was going so smoothly. I was going to be spending the next three weeks with Miss Emiline Barker and she couldn't do anything about it.

"So we have narrowed it down to: Little Women, Pride and Prejudice or The Great Gatsby." Emmy looked down at our long scribbled list.
"I still don't understand why you won't just agree with me and pick The Great Gatsby; the parties and the scandal! We should have a Gatsby party sometime..." My thoughts wandered to glitter, feathers and flapper girl dresses. I wonder how Emmy would look in a fla- Stop it.
"For that, we are not choosing Gatsby." Proclaimed Emmy as she struck the pen through the book's title.
She hummed for a moment, peering at the list. Her mouth opened and closed multiple times but her bad habit of indecisiveness always got the better of her.
After what felt like hours of waiting for a response, I took matters into my own hands. I got up from Emmy's desk chair and plucked the notebook from her hands. I sat behind her on her bed as I scored out Pride and Prejudice.
Angered by my actions, Emmy reached out to grab the notebook from me. In retaliation, I raised my hand higher and higher into the air. She continued to crawl up the bed, clawing at the air as she failed to retrieve her notebook. Emmy's reached up again only for her supporting arm to buckle and bring her face dangerously close to mine.
We breathed the same air from a second, eyes looking deeply into one another. As I continued to stare, my hand slowly drooped down. Emmy broke the spell by snatching the notebook from my hand.
She readjusted herself on the bed beside me while I stretched out, a little annoyed that she stopped the moment.
Emmy scanned the paper to see what I had scribbled all over. "Why did you score out Pride and Prejudice?"
"Thought you might want to talk about Little Women more. You know, Amy's trip with Aunt March to Europe. France and all that."
And I swear, out of the corner of my eye, I caught the glimpse of a small smile. Her lips turned down in an unmistakable upside-down smile.
"You smiling at me Princess?" My voice laced with my ego.
She humphed, "Don't let it get to your head, Jester."
While Emmy curated notes on Little Women, I blabbered on about what was on my mind.
"What do you think of a Great Gatsby party? Could have it at the club again, my dad wouldn't mind."
Still writing Emmy replied, "And when would this party be?"
"How about this weekend? Saturday? It'll be like a welcome back party for Nick and Scarlet."
Emmy raised an eyebrow at me, "You just want an excuse to party, don't you?"
"Of course." It also means more talking to you.
"I'll think about it and text you later if I think it's a good idea."
"Good girl."
Heat slowly crept up on her face as the pink undertones in her skin flushed and shone brighter. God, if I knew calling her that made her nervous, I would've said it earlier.
"Oh... okay. I'll, I'll get back to you about the party later..."
Would you look at that? Emiline Barker was so flustered she was repeating herself. I flashed a wolfish grin at her. "Sounds good to me."
