The upbeat tune of Tinashe's 2 on filled the blush pink colored room, a sixteen-year-old Indiya singing along lowly until her favorite part came back around, her voice getting louder with each word, "I loveeee to get 2 onnn! When the drink be too strong, when the tree be way too strong.."
Her legs were folded and pulled up against her chest while she aimlessly scrolled through Facebook, not seeing much of anything going on. Usually there were plenty of things going on in her city but it was pretty quiet for it to be a Friday in the summer time.
Being cooped up at home became boring overtime. She felt as if she didn't do nothing but go to school, come home, do nothing, then the weekend came around and the cycle repeated. Sometimes she would go to her best friend, Niajah's house, but only when her mom allowed.
Wanting a change of scenery, Indiya thought to go downstairs but decided against it since the downstairs of her home was flooded with her older brother, Terrys, friends. Indiya could not understand for the life of her why he would come to their mothers house with his friends when he had his own damn place- and her mother let him.
She would even cook for all of them when she had the time. It was so annoying sometimes, barely any peace and quiet.
Before Indiya had any time to be irritated, two pings came from her red iPhone 7 Plus, the messages from her best friend Nina popping up on top of her screen. Completely opening the thread, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion once she began typing her reply.
"My dumbass," She softly laughed, "Why would I ask what is it?"
Quickly coming back to reality, the sudden message and the mention of her boyfriend made her become a little alert, so she quickly opened Snapchat, scrolling through the story bubbles to find his. It didn't take long for his name to pop up since his story had been posted about twenty minutes ago, so she quickly tapped on the circled picture that was surrounded by a blue ring.
Tapping past the meaningless quotes, youngboy videos, pictures of weed packs, and basketball highlights, Indiya's eyebrows furrowed at the last story that she didn't quite catch since she had been tapping too fast.
