once i finally arrived at the foster home, the officers that had brought me talked to one of the few ladies here. they talked for awhile i guess talking about my situation, i stayed silent looking around the place.

the nights earlier events still on my mind, no matter how hard i tried to shake it i just couldn't get my parents off my mind. taken out my thoughts the somewhat tall slim brownskin lady walked over towards me her facial expression held a warm welcoming smile.

"welcome, i'm ms. Andersen and i'll be taking care of you for now. if you have any needs or wants please feel free to ask or tell me. there are others who you may see around that are here to help you as well, and there's others around your age that live here too." she spoke in an excited tone. i nodded my head to let her know i was listening.

"nice to meet you ms.andersen" i spoke lowly.
she smiled once more "what's your name baby?" she questioned. "dakiiya" i answered. "hm dakiiya, pretty name for a pretty girl. okay well, are you ready to see the rest of the home sweetie?" . shaking my head yes she took my hand and we began walking.

after we finally finished the tour, she showed me my new room. the home was nice and surprisingly i had a new roommate, this was new for me because i was an only child so having to share now would be new.

walking into the quiet filled room, i looked over at the other bed where another girl sat holding a teddybear. she looked to be around my age or maybe a little younger. we both made eye contact smiling some at eachother. since i didn't bring anything but a picture, i sat on the bed crisscross apple sauce and just looked around the room.

"what's your name?" i heard a soft voice speak. looking over at the girl sitting across from me, she had big brown eyes and a small smile on her face. "dakiiya.. what's yours?" i asked. "kai'lynn, i'm scared.. are you?" she spoke lowly.

"why are you scared? and yes i just wanna go home and hug my parents" i spoke now looking down at the picture. "because.. i'm alone now.. my mommy's dead" she frowned holding her teddybear tightly. i looked back at her a frown expressed on my face.

i got up and walked over towards her bed and sat next to her seeing her now look over at me. " i feel alone too..both of my parents are dead" i mumbled.
she looked at me sadness all in her eyes, suddenly i felt her hugging me. hesitant to hug back at first, i finally held her back. as we held eachothers embrace i could tell we both needed it.

finally letting go, we got to know eachother a little more and ended up telling eachother about the previous events of our night. we both cried and comforted each other, soon falling asleep together.

5 months later

as the months went on, both of the girls grew an extremely close bond. feeling as though they only had each other. wherever and whenever you saw one you would always see the other. they were the best of friends and inseparable. soon growing overprotective of each other.

no one understood them like they understood each other. whenever one of the girls were having a bad day, or even just having flashbacks of that night or their childhood the other one would be there to comfort the other.

it was a cold December day, when the girls were just in their room playing together and talking to each other like any other day. when ms. Andersen stood by the door just watching the girls interact in awe. as the months went on ms. Andersen saw how close the girls grew, she found it so adorable. which is why it was hard for her to break the news to the girls.

ms.Andersen finally deciding to walk in and let her presence be known both of the girls looked up smiling at her. "hey ms.anderson" they both said in sync causing her to laugh some. "hi girls" she smiled, "what y'all up to?" she questioned in a playful tone.

"nothing just playing around" kai'lynn spoke softly, giggling a little. " ah that's nice.. but i do have some news for both of you" her tone changing into a serious tone. both the girls looking at her curiously "okay.. what's the news?" dakiiya asked.

"well you girls understand that this is just as much as a temporary stay for some as it is more of a somewhat permanent for others right?" she asked them, making sure they had a understanding of the conversation to take place. they both nodded their heads, curious to know where she was going with this.

"well.. with that being said, there's been a couple that's taken an particular interest in you dakiiya and their on their way down here as we speak". confusion all on the girl face "ms.andersen, i can't go, what about kai'lynn! i can't leave her" dakiiya immediately growing over protective. "please ms. andersen i like it here, and you've been like another mother to me" the girl continued trying her best to get the lady to change her mind, not knowing that it wasn't up to her.

ms anderson's heart grew warm, a small frown growing on her face. she didn't want them to have to separate just as much as they didn't want to. "i know baby, but it's not up to me i'm sorry" she spoke sympathy all in her tone.

the girls just hugged eachother tightly tears all in their eyes, not knowing if they'll ever see eachother again.

an hour had went by and the couple had finally arrived at the foster home to pick up dakiiya. they looked like an loving couple but looks could always be deceiving, and dakiiya was one to know that firsthand. her parents death leaving her traumatized in more ways than one, and an loving "perfect" couple was one.

there stood dakiiya holding hands with kai'lynn, kai'lynn holding her hand tightly not wanting to let go. dakiiya looked over at kai'lynn seeing the tears in the girl eyes that hit her tear stained cheeks. dakiiya softly wiped away the girls tears and looked her in her eyes. "this isn't goodbye nari, we'll see eachother again i promise" dakiiya told her bestfriend calling her by her nickname she called her.

kai'lynn just stares back at the girl nodding her head, not knowing if she'll ever see her again. she never wanted to lose her and never thought she would. she hugged dakiiya tightly "i love you" she mumbled. "i love you more nari, always and forever" dakiiya looked down a little smiling at her with tears running down her face.

ms.andersen and the couple watching the girls interact in awe. wishing there was a way both girls didn't have to separate.

the girls finally let go looking at eachother, "remember this isn't goodbye, we'll see eachother again i promise" the now eleven year old dakiiya looked at kai'lynn holding her pinky finger out. they pinky promised eachother. they hugged eachother one more time, "take care nari" dakiiya told the girl softly. "take care" kai'lynn mumbled tears still making their way down her red colored cheeks.
