A new day

It's been a week since Dipper left the hospital, and I still have to lay low. Those two old geysers have been hovering around Dipper instead of leaving for their trip. Every day since Dipper came back, I've had to sneak up to his window at night to see him. It was romantic at first but quickly lost its allure. I wanted to be able to hold his hand in the light of day to let everyone see us together, but after everything I've done, the town will never except me. I have to learn to live with that now. I grinned in spite of myself. Pinetree was a bad influence on me.

I rise to my feet and dive from the tree my form, dissipating into atoms before coming together and shifting into a yellow bird. One of the perks of being made two-dimensional I didn't have the limitations of others in this world, although it took me a long time to make a 3 dimensional form. I knew it was handsome by human standards if my Dippers reaction was any indication, but it clearly showed it was still me. The biggest indication it was me was my eye, the same oval shape with large eyelashes and slitted pupils. Maybe if I tried more, I'd be able to hide it, then I really could be in public with Dipper, with no one the wiser. Although the people of Gravity have never been that bright, maybe I could just walk among them anyway. There's only two siblings that could ruin that, and thinking of them is starting to tick me off.

I shook myself from my thoughts and continued my search. It's been weeks since Penny appeared making her vague threats. Since then, I haven't seen heads or tails of her. I glide through the pines of Gravity Falls closely, watching its people. It was the same always the same. Lazy susan was running the diner, the cops Durland and Blubs were busy LARPing with Toby, Soos would have been there but he was probably with his fiancé Melody It all just seemed to be the same tedium. All I needed was a sign a crumb of evidence she was still here, but like the wind, there was nothing except a cold feeling.

Dipper has been weird ever since he saw that she-devil. He's been sullen and quiet since coming back from the hospital. Even though he seems to have healed physically, and from what he's told me, he has repaired his relationship with his sister, he seems to have a dark cloud hanging over his head. I gently landed in a try nearby the Mystery shack and watch, Mabel and Dipper are moving boxes outside, each box with poorly scribbled letters that barely formed the word fragile.  A large truck was rumbling up the path, guttering thick smoke from its battered pipe. They're finally moving out, I can't say I'd miss them, but I am excited to be able to spend time with Dipper. Soos said we could have a room all to ourselves (he didn't even recognise me just complemented my eyepatch). A small part of me was ready to take the next step with Dipper. With everything going on, we haven't had a moment to actually address it. However, now we would have time. Despite my insistance to Pinetree that I could just speed this up by manipulating the timestream, he was equally insistant that I can't mess with it.
Since Timebaby is still scattered particles, I have been able to have fun with the timestream with minimal interference from the time police. Those who have tried well, the universe is a big place after all, and it would be too much energy to go looking for them.

Especially now nothing is going to stop me, I don't need the universe as long as I have Dipper but I've still made a list of enemies that I now have to protect us from. It doesn't matter who comes not even that two dimensional poor excuse for a demon, I won't let anything come between us again.

My muscles are aching from the strain, my shirt is clinging to my back with sweat it took me all day to help Ford and Stan pack these boxes. Mable pointed to me immediately after Ford asked who could assist him in packing the moving van. Mable tried to make it up to me by making lemonade but the glitter made it hard to drink, she however managed to gulp down an entire jug. Ford had gone inside to get some water and I was about to leave to join him when a noise drew my attention.

"Pssst Pinetree" I turn around to see a little yellow bird sitting on a low hanging branch, the form changes as Bill lies across the branch looking a lot like the chesire cat. I stride towards him casting glances back at the door to the mystery shack.

"Bill what are you doing!? Someone could see you!" I hiss quietly, his eyes slowly drift to meet mine his smile unwavering. He stretches and moves from his side to his back not concerning himself with physics as his weight strained the branch.

"Relax my dear, the old timers are inside I can hear them trying to figure out whats inside Mabel's lemonade" I turn towards the window and saw three figures nearby its familiar stained glass pattern.

"Do you know whats in it?" I asked glad for the distraction.

"Aside from an unconsumable amount of glitter?" Bill paused then shrugged

"Maybe lemons? Mabel is a being of chaos like me but with just a lot more glitz and fluffy things" I chuckled and leaned in to kiss Bill as I feel the hairs of my neck raise, I can hear the electrical charge of a gun. I look over to see the triangle shaped barrel of Fords weapon pointed directly at Bill and I. I glanced at the window and saw still three figures only now noticing the shape of the third was Soos. Bill stared past my shoulder his grin growing wider.

"Hello Sixer! Long time no see ay?" Fords scowl could freeze time.

"Cipher! Get away from my nephew" Bill only lay there as if unaffected by Fords demand. Ford looked to me and I knew the second I moved he would shoot. So I stood there taking in a deep breath.

"Great uncle Ford I have to tell you something" I took a step towards my great uncle while blocking his line of sight. Ford kept his eyes between me and Bill scanning for a chance to shoot most likely while avoiding me. I keep my body in the line of his gun, his hands were shaking and my knees were growing weak but I forced another step.

"What did Cipher do to you Dipper? Did he trick you? Is he in your mind?" Fords words were strained as he tried to focus on Bill again, his voice wavered towards the end.

"What? No! Grunkle Ford look at my pupils look at my eyes Bill isn't inside me mind" Inside I my heart beat like a drum inside a cave. I tried to get Ford to look at me but his eyes stayed focused on Bill, his brows furrowed and dark. I took another step my knees were shaking, it was Ford he couldn't hurt me. He wouldn't, not now, right?

"Grunkle Ford please" My throat was dry and my skin dripping with sweat as I raised my arms, in surrender in a plea? I can't tell anymore. Fords eyes slowly drift to meet mine, in an eternity of a moment he scans my face. I can see a slight bit of tension drop from his shoulders as he confirms what I said. His gun lowers slightly and my heart begins to slow, then I hear the branch behind me snap. Bill shoots forward from his position reaching for Ford. Ford with practised precision raises his gun to meet Bill's charge.

"NO!" Is all I can say as I hear the gun fire in my ears.
