- Sanemi -
Four years, two months and eighteen days.
Yet I still hadn't forgotten the floral scent which always wafted around whenever she was around. Her angelic eyes and kind-graced face which seemed to be imprinted in my memory since I first and last layed my eyes upon her.
The framed photo shook beneath the unknown force of my hands.
Four years, two months and eighteen days I promised myself I would never marry someone ever again when she died.
Yet here I was. About to marry a certain blue-eyed man who had a presence hard to ignore and annoyingly handsome too, even tho we just fucking met.
My gze lowered to the picture in the glass frame, with its patterns adorned in elegant roses and peonies in blush pink. In the photo, there was a beautiful woman with glossy black hair and a smile that could light up the whole night.
Kanae, my dear.
A rare, wistful smile softened my usual sharp features.
Four years, two months and eightee--
"Shinazugawa-san?" A soft voice abruptly cut off my thoughts.
With a sigh, I kept the photoframe back on the nightstand. The room was painted in a lively cherry blossom pink, but it always seemed lifeless and dull without her. It was a room I loved, she loved, we loved.
Keeping those precious memories at the back of my thoughts, I turned around to see Giyuu leaning on the door, his eyes peering across the room in a focused manner. He had an eyebrow raised at the floral designing and pink walls, which probably surprised him but didn't show it.
"Is there a problem?" My voice came off a bit annoyed at how he was studying the room like it was infested in rats.
He obviously picked up my irritated tone, relaxing his face into his famous deadpan. I've gotten used to that expression, now it only bothers me half the day at how this guy never seems to even soften his face.
"Nothing," he said. "It's just that, I was a bit taken back at how..."
"This room isn't mine."
Giyuu's expression slightly shifted to that of curiosity, which was pretty damn rare.
"It's my wife's." I made sure to emphasize the word wife.
Giyuu's expression changed from curiosity to his normal expression, or as I like to call it, the same as being dead.
"Oh." His voice came out small.
"Yes, oh." My voice contained a note of mockery.
Giyuu didn't seem to like his voice being mocked. His indifferent mask faded away to reveal some annoyance.
Now that's what I'm talking about.
"Only Shinazugawa Sanemi can pull the switch from being tolerable to an asshole really quick."
"How sweet."
Giyuu let out an exasperated sigh. It was like music to my ears, knowing I was the only one who could piss off the king of indifference.
"Even tho we just met, I already can't stand you." Giyuu's irritated voice was loud and clear across the room. "I'm planning to jump off a cliff before our marriage."
"Make sure to do a flip."
"I'm serious, Shinazugawa."
A light chuckle escaped through me at the sheer annoyance Giyuu's voice had. It was like winning at something you didn't even try for. Boring, but worth to it brag about.
The silence in the room wasn't about anything. It wasn't awkward nor was it comforting. It was just there.
A few moments later, surprisingly, Giyuu decided to break the ice.
"What I came here for was to talk to you." He said solemnly, which made me curious.
"And what is it about?" I asked.
"Since we are going to get married, and I do not want to be stuck with the grinch for the rest of my life, I have an agreement planned for us both."
"I am not the grinch." I scoffed.
He rolled his eyes at my offended tone, continuing his talk while shoving his hands in the pockets of his cargo.
"What I'm saying is, let's agree on a truce."
"I didn't know we were at war." I smirked, earning an annoyed expression from the king of indifference yet again.
"Cut the crap Shinazugawa, are you going to agree or what?" He held out his hand.
"Definitely a what." I said.
"I wish I could slap you from across the face with this outstretched hand of mine."
"What a colorful choice of words."
I earned another exasperated sigh from Giyuu.
This whole truce thing didn't appeal to me, but I was getting bored playing around and doing nothing with this mess of a fake marriage I found myself in, and it wasn't getting better for passing the time until Iguro found all the locations of the photos.
"Well, what are the conditions?" I asked, raising my gaze to a narrow-eyed Giyuu.
"One date a week to know each other well." He said.
One date a week.
My look of suprise must've been clearly visible, because Giyuu repeated himself again, looking at me impatiently.
I was expecting something, but I wasn't expecting this. I still wasn't ready to move on after what had happened years ago, hell, I wouldn't even look at a woman with interest. They all stood bland compared to her. Even a A-listed model would propose to me and I'd reject her for Kanae. That's how much I had loved her.
Until the man who was standing infront of me uprooted into my well-planned life.
I shouldn't accept his 'truce' or whatever. I should keep him at arms-length. Even if he was go to the other side of the world, I would still be too close to him.
But instead of swatting his hand away, my hand made its way to his, shaking it.
"You've got yourself a deal Tomioka."
I couldn't stop myself from saying those words.
What has gotten into me?
I'll manage with these stupid dates and all until I destroy those incriminating photos.
But I sure as hell won't fall for him.
