Chapter 5

The next morning, Shinichi woke up feeling remarkably refreshed. His cold seemed to have vanished, and he was eager to get back to his duties as the head butler of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. He sat up in bed, preparing to rise.

However, just as he was about to get dressed, the door to his room opened, and Kaito, once again dressed as a butler, walked in. He had a concerned expression on his face.

Upon seeing Shinichi up, Kaito immediately said, "Shin-chan, you should get back to bed and rest. You're not fully recovered yet."

Shinichi, surprised, protested, "Kaito, I feel fine now. There's no need for me to stay in bed."

Kaito's gaze became more determined as he approached Shinichi to forcefully nudge him back into the bed, his hands taking hold of Shinichi's nightwear. "I don't want to take any chances. You need to rest until you're completely well."

Shinichi's panic welled up, and he shouted, "Kaito, please stop!"

Kaito, taken aback by Shinichi's outburst, stepped back, giving him some space.

In a calmer tone, Shinichi spoke, "I appreciate how you took care of me, and I enjoyed it, too. But, I also enjoy serving you and taking care of the mansion. It's what I'm here for, and it's what makes me happy. If you truly care for me, please let me continue my work."

Kaito felt a pang of guilt and regret. "Shin-chan, I'm sorry. I just wanted to make sure you were okay."

Shinichi nodded and smiled. "I understand, Thank you for your concern."

Kaito sighed in relief. "Alright, you can return to your duties. I'll inform the others that you're well again."

While Kaito left to change back into his usual outfit, Shinichi quickly got dressed and followed Kaito out of the room.

Once he was changed, Kaito gathered Saguru , Ran, Akako, Aoko and Conan in the main hall. He waited until everyone was present, and then he began, "I have an announcement to make. Shinichi is now better and will be resuming his duties as the head butler of the Scarlet Devil Mansion."

Ran's enthusiasm dampened, and she mumbled, "Aw, I liked being the head maid."

Kaito smirked and replied, "Well, I have some new assignments for all of you. Conan will be staying on as the gatekeeper since he enjoys it so much."

Conan waved his hand in the air, chanting, "I want to be gatekeeper! I want to be gatekeeper!"

Ran look at Kaito confused. "So if he's gatekeeper what am I supposed to do?"

Kaito sternly looked at Ran. "Ran, you're fired."

"What?! Why?" Ran protested. "I've been doing great!"

"No you haven't," Kaito sternly stated, "Ran, you constantly take naps during your shifts, and you let too many intruders get past. Conan has done a much better job at keeping intruders out."

Ran crossed her arms and huffed, "That's not fair! I can do better!"

Conan extended his hand towards Ran, his expression fierce, and a glint of power in his eyes. Ran gulped and quickly backed away.

Shinichi entered the room, bowing to Kaito. "Kaito, I'm ready to resume my duties."

Kaito smiled and nodded. "Welcome back, Shinichi. The mansion could use your touch; it seems to have gotten messier than usual under Ran."

Shinichi nodded and immediately set to work tidying up, happy to be back in his role as the head butler. The mansion would soon be restored to its usual state of elegance and order, thanks to his meticulous care.

After a long day of work, Shinichi finally entered his bedroom, ready to get some well-deserved rest. He was just about to get into bed when there was a soft knock on the door. He opened it to find Kaito standing there with a gentle smile.

"Is it still alright if I see you to bed, Shinichi?" Kaito asked, his amethyst eyes warm and caring.

Shinichi blushed slightly but nodded in agreement. "Of course, I appreciate your concern."

Kaito walked over and helped Shinichi change into his nightwear, his touch gentle and considerate. Once Shinichi was in bed, Kaito pulled the covers up to his chin and tucked him in snugly. He leaned down and placed a soft kiss on Shinichi's forehead.

"Goodnight, my dear Shin-chan," Kaito whispered. "Sleep well and rest up."

Shinichi's heart fluttered at the affectionate gesture. "Goodnight, Kaito. Thank you for taking care of me."

Kaito smiled and left the room, leaving Shinichi to drift off into a peaceful and well-deserved slumber.
