"How can I help, Doctor?" Yaz asked, tears in her eyes.

"There's nothing you can do, Yaz. I'm sorry..." Yaz seemed helpless. "I don't... ugh... I don't see any other solution. This face wasn't supposed to last long."

"Don't say that, Doctor. You're not dead yet. There must be something we can do." Her voice trembled.

"Doctor... Doctor!!!" She froze, mouth wide open, eyes vacant. She let out a cry of surprise and placed a hand on her chest.

"I think one of my hearts just gave out..."

"Doctor! Turn around!" Yaz grabbed her arm, making her pivot onto her back, breathless.

"Yyy-Yaz, wh-what are you doi-doing?" When she saw Yaz preparing the defibrillator, she opened her eyes wide. "No-no, Yaz!!!" The Doctor prevented her from applying the patches by pushing her hands away. "It won't do any-go-ood..." Yaz blocked one of her arms and managed to apply one of the patches.

A new battle of hands ensued. "Tha-that won't help, shocking my heart, the nanites will still be th-there!" Yaz stopped; they looked at each other, this exchange seemed to last a lifetime.

Before the Doctor could react, Yaz lifted the bottom of her blouse, applied the last patch, and shocked her. The Doctor spasmed, staring blankly at the ceiling, not breathing. Yaz leaned over her, petrified. What had she done?

"Doctor? Doctor?! DOCTOR!!!"

"Yaz, what have you done?!" Graham crouched next to the Doctor, who gradually regained her breath, her gaze endlessly lost.

"Doc? Doc?! Are you okay?!" Graham tapped her cheek repeatedly, prompting her to gradually react. She looked at them but said nothing. She seemed not to see them.

Something was happening; her expression changed. From shock, she moved to surprise and from surprise to satisfaction. This time, she really looked at them.

"Shock me again!"

"Uh... Doc? There are other ways to commit suicide, you know?"

"Shock me NOW!!!" She pulled out the sonic screwdriver from her pocket and aimed it at the defibrillator.

"But what are you... NOOO!!!" She grabbed the paddles and shocked herself. It took her a little less time to come back, which greatly reassured Yaz and Graham.

"What the hell got into you!" She sat up and looked at Yaz with a big smile. She spread her arms, narrowly missing Graham's head as he moved out of danger onto a chair.

"Cured! I'm cured! The shock fried the nanites; I don't feel them anymore, they're done for! Short-circuited... But it was brilliant, Yaz! You saved my life!"

To Yaz's delight, the Doctor hugged her.

"You're crazy..." She returned the embrace. After a moment, she grabbed her shoulders, pushed her back slightly, and pointed at her. "Never do that to me again!"
