Authors's note: I wanna make the grading system clear in this story. I am using the grading system we also have here in the country I live in. We have five grades. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. One is the best, five the worst. Means the test which Akk wrote in the last chapter was the second worst he could have gotten. (1 basically is an A, 2 a B, 3 a C, 4 a D, and 5 an E. But since we only have five grades 5 is comparable to an F!)
Akk's pov:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I am dead. Tell my parents I love them and hold the speech at my funeral." I said while rushing the hall of Aye's home up and down.
Maybe I was exaggerating, but tomorrow was the day of my exam and I have the feeling I forgot everything. The test I wrote last month was literally a 4!
If I mess this up, it of course would be really bad. Especially since this exam only was taken with the help of my tutor, a guy only a few months older than me myself!
I hope on a 1, obviously. What was realistic though? A 4 again? Maybe a 5?
"Akk!" A loud voice yelled after me as I felt a pair of hands on my shoulder, shacking me violently to get me out of my trance I was stuck in.
My eyes shot open wide and I realized that Aye was standing in front of me, staring into my eyes with a worried gaze. "Calm down. You are stressing out way too much."
A small sigh came out of me as I looked up a bit into the light on the ceiling. "You are right." i mumbled while the bright light started hurting my eyes.
"I am just stressed. I feel like I won't make it!" I added with a frustrating voice. Ayan luckily seemed to understand as he nodded.
"I get you, Akk. But you need to keep your cool. If you react the same way as right now tomorrow then it won't be a wonder that you are failing."
Man, I felt like I was just getting scolded by my dad or something. Ayan really had this parently aura. It wouldn't be a surprise if he would work as some kind of kindergarten teacher in the future.
But Ayan already told me that he mostly is working as a tutor for the extra money. Well, he surely doesn't need it when I look around his house, huh?
"Akk?" He called again for my name. Finally, I turned to him completely. It wasn't the first time that I was completely losing my mind in thoughts today. "Sorry."
Aye, who himself seemed frustrated by me began to take a step back again. "It is okay. Let's just calm your head, repeat the lessons one more time, and then head to sleep."
"Head to sleep?" I asked confused. Ayan nodded. "It is already late." "No." I answered, shushing him in a way. "Head to sleep? We both? Like, in the same house?"
I really wasn't expecting this. He wants me to sleep here? But on the couch, right? Please on the couch!
Though, Ayan didn't even hesitate. "Yes. When we are done learning it would be about 10 p.m. I won't let you drive home. You will crash over. I told Khan to bring me your stuff already. He is on his way."
So many questions popped into my head, but I decided to just let it be, even though I have no idea how Ayan got Khan's number to call or even alone text him.
From where does he even know that I and Khan are best friends!? Did he stalk me or something? But well, just things are just supposed to stay mysterious.
"Okay. This sounds like a plan, I guess." I mumbled as he basically pulled me down onto the couch. In front of us, on the couch table, were all the games set up and a few more work sheets which Ayan made for me.
"And you are 100% sure that we are actually studying about the right topic right now?" I asked, just to be sure while he already prepared a game.
But he just nodded in response. "I am! I even talked with my uncle to be sure that you are getting the just right kind of work plans and work sheets for your learning."
For a moment or two, only could hesitate. "You really are taking this seriously, hm? As if your life depends on it, as I can say." I just dropped, giving my opinion.
Luckily Ayan didn't seem to take it bad. Well, I was really grateful that Ayan is willing to support me like this. He though just chuckled and took it onto the light shoulder.
"I am. Besides, your parents told me to give me more money if you write a good grade~!" He said, leaning closer to me. It was clear that he was only teasing me since he is doing this voluntarily and doesn't get paid, but I liked it that way.
"And now stop talking and begin to learn. You have an important day tomorrow." Aye answered my thoughts, hitting my head gently with the cards in his hands. "Fine..." I said in a voice as if I just lost in the game we haven't even started playing yet.
I grabbed the cards from the table and checked them out. They weren't good, nor bad. This game actually doesn't have good and bad cards. This was a game of reflexes. And so we began to play.
He laid a card, and so did I. Just in a second tact. My card and his card. When we laid down two cards similar to each other, we try grabbing them as fast as possible and the round begins new. Who in the end hasn't any cards left, lost.
It was a game which would remind of UNO. But not because of the different kinds of cards, but because there wasn't something called "mercy". Only one person could win. And this is gonna be me.
...
...
...
It wasn't me. Okay, I lost, I admit it. But I could swear that he cheated!
At least these were my thoughts as I was laying on the couch, wrapping myself into the blanket.
The clock clicking every second made me go insane slowly. Nothing was more annoying than the sounds of loud clocks in the night.
The curtains were mostly closed, and only the moonlight shined into the living room as I tried my best to fall asleep.
But it was hard! Even the plant next to the big TV looked like some sort of man with a knife in his hand. Was it one?
I squinted my eyes to check. Nope, just a simple plant.
I sighed deeply before letting my head fall onto the scratchy pillow.
This is gonna be a long night...
