America hummed quietly, happy that he was done with the work already. Though he was bored and not really sure what he could do with the rest of class.
He thought for a bit about it, eventually pulling out a small sketch book he'd been using for a while. He started sketching, deciding to draw the people around him. It'd give him a bit of practice in drawing faces, and translating people into his art style. He looked around, seeing who he could start with.
He looked around then spotted a girl he knew to be named Kelly. She was fairly pretty; she had hazel eyes with golden flecks in them, black hair with gentle waves, had a tan skin tone, and a round face shape. This made her fairly easy to translate into his style. From all he knew, she was kind. He'd never talked to her much, but she'd stopped by his desk once and complemented one of his drawings.
He was careful as he sketched her out, using a kneaded eraser to lighten the lines when he felt ready to move on to adding the watercolor.
He quietly pulled the watercolors out of his bag and dropped some water from his water brush onto the colors he'd need. He then started by settling in the lightest shades he'd need, leaving the area for her eyes white while he carefully painted in her skin and parts of her eyes.
He smiled to himself as he started to paint in her hair, he started by giving a undercoat of a cool toned purple, as Kelly's hair seemed to be a cooler shade of black and not a neutral or warm one. Then, he started to paint in the darker colors.
Eventually, he was happy with how the little piece looked. He felt like he'd done her justice, or he had in his own opinion.
Now that he'd finished a piece of her, he noticed that he still had about an hour of class time left. He could probably practice with a couple other classmates, or he could try to draw the new kid, Russia, from memory. He knew that the other didn't like him, but he hoped that was something he might eventually be able to change.
He started to sketch Russia, deciding it'd be good practice for him to try and translate Russia into his style - as Russia had a more masculine build and slightly angular face shape. It meant he'd be a bit more of a challenge translating Russia into his style, and he was happy to have a little challenge.
He started sketching, finding a bit of a challenge in trying to get Russia's face shape correct- which was providing him a frustrating, yet fun, challenge. He opened to draw Russia with a small smile - as he personally thought the other would look a little more attractive with it. He didn't know much about him, but he wanted to learn more about him.
Once he was done with the sketch, he used his kneaded eraser to lighten it. He hummed as he carefully started to add the colors to the lightened sketch, being careful. He wanted to do Russia justice, as even though he'd never show the other the art- he wanted to make sure he did a good job.
He always wanted to make sure he did a good job when drawing real people, but for some reason, he felt more determined to do Russia justice than many other people he'd drawn. He also wasn't quite sure why he wanted Russia to be fond of him... Why did he feel some sort of pull towards Russia? He had so many questions about why he felt what he did towards Russia that it temporarily distracted him from drawing said person.
He shook his head to clear his thoughts so that he could get back to focusing on drawing the new person: Russia.
They were a pretty person, If he was being entirely honest. He liked their hat - An ushanka if he remembered correctly. He couldn't tell if their hair was long or short because of it, so he was just going to keep it to a front view of them.
He kept sketching and erasing lines, trying to figure out how to draw Russia's face shape in his style. It took a lot of trial and error before he was happy with it. Once he was happy with the general shape he had for Russia's face, he started to sketch in some details - like Russia's hair, the ushanka, and a necklace he'd noticed Russia wearing. It was a cross necklace if he remembered correctly - so it was likely Russia was in one of the Christian denominations. He wasn't sure which, but he was curious about it.
He slightly shook his head to clear the thoughts away so that he could refocus on the sketch of Russia.
Once he drew in Russia's eyes and gently rolled over the sketch with a kneaded eraser, he racked his brain for a moment over what color Russia's eyes were. It took him a bit to remember that they were a beautiful and striking amber color.
A beautiful color that was often found in tree sap that trapped insects of the past.
He let out a little sigh as he dropped some water onto the colors he knew he'd need. He then started painting, letting himself get lost in the comfort that came with the activity.
Eventually he felt happy with the piece of art that he'd made of Russia, and stopped, moving away from the drying watercolor.
While he waited for it to dry, he started to sketch a few people he knew, like his friends and siblings. He'd drawn them several times before, he could go over and watercolor the sketches.
He sighed a little as he picked someone to draw. He wasn't sure who- he could draw Canada, but honestly he didn't want to deal with drawing his fuck-boy of a brother at the moment. He thought for a while before deciding to draw Japan.
America let out a soft comfortable chattering noise before covering his mouth out of embarrassment.
He flushed, internally berating himself for making a bird noise during school. He hoped no one heard the noise. And if someone did, he hoped they'd think it came out the window.
He sighed a little and shook his head before he went back to drawing.
