Still in the Living Room

Evan lounged on the couch, his eyes fixed on the screen in front of him. His brows furrowed as he processed the implications of what had just transpired.
"So... a system, huh?" he muttered, scratching his back absentmindedly.

[Yes User, you are correct], the system chimed in, stating the obvious with a robotic efficiency that grated on Mark's nerves.

"What a generic ass thing to happen in a sto-"

A/N: SHUT IT!

Evan rolled his eyes, the interruption breaking his train of thought.

"Fine! Geez, take a chill pill, why don't cha?" he retorted, his irritation simmering just beneath the surface.

[User, I am an AI. I don't need medication as I don't hav-]

"Yeah, yeah, I wasn't talking to you," Evan interrupted, cutting off the system's response with a dismissive wave of his hand.

"What kind of system even are you?" he mused aloud, his curiosity piqued despite his annoyance.

[The system is called the Servant System. It lets the user take contracts from entities to assign tasks to the user, whether it be collecting plants, performing assassinations, or destroying a country, and even Protection, there's even contracts of Sexual Categori-]

"WOAH, WOAH, WOAH! Too much information!" He interjected, holding up his hands in a gesture of surrender. He felt overwhelmed by the sudden flood of- wait did it just say Se- Whatever, He shook his head to dispel these thoughts.

"Ugh... but... 'servant' is in the name... do I have to follow their commands against my will?" he queried, his tone tinged with concern. The thought of being compelled to carry out Those kinds commands for Weirdos made his skin crawl even if he looks average.

[No User, as the System doesn't take contracts that may give the users full control to the contracter, unless the User allows it]

"Oh... cool, cool, cool, cool," He murmured, processing the information with a mix of relief and skepticism. The idea of being manipulated into serving someone else's whims was a chilling thought.

"So... are you the reason as to why I was hearing those voices?" he inquired, his tone laced with irritation and exhaustion. The mere memory of the relentless pleas echoing in his mind sent a shiver down his spine.

[No User, as it seems you have been exposed to the Dimensional Directive Agency's  dimensional shard, and it is coming off in the mobile communication device you have in your hand]

".... My what?" Evan questioned, incredulous at the revelation.

[Your phone, User]

"How in the hell does my phone have the-... whatever, so what do I do now?"

[You have 3 daily objectives that you may do to help you be prepared for the upcoming contracts]

"So... do I have any quests to do or...?" He queried, his curiosity piqued despite his lingering skepticism.

"... Right after I finish watching this vid-" before he could slouch around a bit more, he was interrupted by his AI

[User, I recommend to do these daily quests now so that you are more prepared for the Contract automatically prepared for you a Week from now]

"Alright, alright," He grumbled in response to the AI's prompt, acknowledging the wisdom in prioritizing his preparation for the upcoming contract.

With a resigned sigh, he dragged himself off the couch and made his way to the designated area in his home where he had set up his makeshift workout space. Despite his initial reluctance, he knew that completing the daily quests would not only improve his physical abilities but also increase his chances of success in the tasks that lay ahead.

Half an hour later...

Evan's voice echoed through the room, punctuated by heavy breaths as he powered through his 68th push-up.

"This freaking sucks!" he grumbled between exertions, frustration evident in his tone. Sweat dripped down his forehead, mingling with the beads of effort that coated his skin.

Each repetition felt like a Herculean effort, his muscles burning with fatigue as he pushed himself to complete the task. Despite his complaints, however, there was a stubborn determination in his eyes, a refusal to give up in the face of adversity.

With a final grunt of exertion, Evan pushed himself up one last time, completing the set with a mixture of relief and exhaustion. Collapsing onto the floor, he took a moment to catch his breath, his chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm.

"Never again," he vowed to himself, his words tinged with a hint of humor amidst the discomfort. Despite the difficulty of the task, he knew that the sense of accomplishment that came with pushing himself beyond his limits was worth the temporary discomfort.

With renewed determination, Evan dragged himself to his feet, ready to tackle the next challenge that awaited him. As he continued his workout, the echoes of his complaints faded into the background, replaced by the steady rhythm of his exertions and the quiet determination that fueled his every movement.
