Kiki led the way towards Zen's quarters where he had his office. We were all silent on the way, as i tried to walk next to Shirayuki and away from Obi as much as possible.

Once arrived, Zen stood up from his desk and explained everything to us.
"I brought you here so we could all figure this out together. A village quite far resquested our help to get rid of a bandit group terrorizing them and stealing everything they own. I sadly don't have time to go all the way there to take care of it as i have some important meetings soon. I was gonna send you Obi to take care of this, but I'll also need to send someone to help the hurt victims that got caught by the bandits."

He paused for a moment, reconsidering his choice. "The only one i could send was you, Shirayuki, but i don't think it's a good idea to send you out there. I would need someone who knows how to use a sword and defend themselves so Obi doesn't have to protect them the whole time..."

I bit my lip, considering proposing myself, but unsure if i was allowed to talk to a prince. "Excuse me, your majesty, but im studying medicine, and i have knowledge of combat... Maybe you could use my help."

Everyone looked at me, surprised until Zen spoke up. "You seemed familiar ever since i saw you at that party. Have i met you prior to this?" I nodded and made him remember how i was the daughter of the man who used to train him at the sword. I would sometimes join in the training, so i had some defensive abilities.

"I'm not the best doctor, but I've learned most things, for example, Obi, show them your hands." There were no more traces of the cuts as they had completely healed. Obi and Shirayuki were both astonished at my expertise. Zen pondered over it for a little bit and then said

"Alright then, I'm sending you with Obi on this mission as a trial. If everything goes well, I'll make you officially one of my aids." I bowed at the prince and thanked him for the opportunity.

He then quickly filled us in on the details we needed to know for the mission, and we went back to the pharmacy.

Obi and i left the next week. We traveled by horse, and it took us three days to get there in total. With that much time alone together, we soon got along. One night, the air was particularly cold, and even with my coat and a blancket, i was shivering.

We couldn't keep the fire while we slept because we could get jumped by the bandits as they would know where we were.

I tried to ignore the cold and get as much sleep as i could until i felt something warm on my back. It was Obi. "Sorry, I'm a bit cold. Let me lie down next to you tonight." He was obviously lying about being cold, but i appreciated his gesture.

"Thanks," i said before eventually falling asleep, our backs touching to share our warmth.

Once at the village, we tracked down the bandits and found their hideout. Obi went in, and i heard some heavy fists flying around. I stepped in near the end just to witness the utter defeat of all the bandits with Obi standing strong, not having a single scratch.

I looked at him in awe but soon snapped out of it and untied and treated the hostages.

Most of them could be helped with just some oinment I had made prior, but two of them had to be carried to a hospital because of heavy bleeding. While some others helped carry them, I went to check on Obi.

He had sat down, laying his back on the wall. At first glance, he just seemed tired, but when i got to him, i saw he was bleeding from his side.

I kneeled down next to him in a hurry and aplied pressure on his cut. Luckily, it didn't seem too deep of a wound, so all we had to do was disinfect it and prevent the bloodlost as much as possible.

"I'm gonna be fine roses, you don't have to- arg..." He bit down on his lip to hide the pain. I sighed, "Just let me help you. Lift your arms up so i can remove your shirt, please."

He stopped putting up a fight and removed his shirt so I could more easily access his wound. I became a bit shy in the moment when i saw his muscular body but quickly cleared my mind and focused on cleaning up his wound.

After pooring water and drying it as much as i could with a clean cloth, i put some bandages around his torso to cover up his injury. I then let him put his shirt back on and helped him stand up, his arm around my shoulders for support.

We walked back to the village to get a room in an inn to rest before going back to the palace the next day. On our way back, we crossed paths with some guards giving away some food rations. Among them was a familiar face.

"Hey! I actually needed to talk to you. What a coincidence! Do you have a minute?" It was Kyo, my childhood friend. I turned to Obi, and he gave me a thumbs up, going to lay down in our room we booked.

Kyo excused himself from the other guards, and we went to a close by alley for some privacy. "Remember when i asked you if you were still married? Yeah, well, i asked for your dad's permission, and we can get married!"

I froze in place. What? What was he talking about? He suggested we get married? Together? I couldn't believe what i was hearing and was slowly getting angrier.

"And when did i ever agree to this?" I asked him, trying to control my anger from spilling on my tone of voice. He explained that he had seen you at the palace for the suitress of Prince Zen and assumed i needed to find a man to marry.

"No." I said firmly. He looked at me puzzeled. "What?"

"Do i need to explain myself? I don't want to marry you, or anyone for that matter. " i almost screamed in frustration. "Im going to talk to my dad and break off this engagement." i said before stomping my way out of there.

I go back to the inn and sit down on the bed, and tears start to fall down my cheeks from frustration and powerlessness. Obi sits up slowly and asks me what's wrong.

Still being mad, i barked at him some things i never should've. "Why don't you leave me alone and take care of your pittiful, unrequited love. I mean, you have to have realized you were chasing her in vain, right? You're ridiculous."

He became quiet and laid down in his bed, facing away from me. We kept quiet until morning.
