chapter two

AVAS POV-
I was walking through the hallways trying to find my next class before Maddy saw me
"AAAA bitch not seen you in too long, how the fuck was your summer!!"
"Girlll it was good, pretty chill i cant lie"
"Ughhh you should've came to some of our partiesss they were sooo good, why didnt you?"
"My fucking brother, he never lets me come to those things"
"Bitch ignore him and come to this next one! It's on Friday, me and Nate can give you a lift"
"Aww id love too! I gotta go to class"
"Ava ill message you! Bye hoe"
I love Maddy so so much but her swearing brings it out of me too.

Everyone was looking at me in the halls, I could feel so many different eyes on me
Not only from sophomores but seniors and juniors.
I guess i had a glow up over the summer, Maddy kept telling me but i always just assumed she was trying to make me more confident.

I arrived to my class but then i saw Cassie
"Heyyy cutie"
"Ava! Good to see you, how's Tyler?"
"He's good?? How are you"
Ive always thought shes had a thing on my brother and If im being totally honest im sure he likes her too, but she's always with other guys so i think he kind of just assumed it would never happen

This has happened with so many of my friends liking my brother - its so annoying.
He's 6,2 and muscly and brunette but lighter than my brown hair, kind of lanky if you ask me but all my friends always disagree 'he the perfect amount of muscle to not be lanky' as my friends always remind me.
He looks a lot more like our mom.

"Yeah ive been good, missed you"
"Missed you too cass!
The teacher was telling everyone in my class to sit down so i gave her a hug and went in my class

The day passes slowly but then i sat with Cassie, Maddy, Kat, Lexi (the group) at lunch
Rue wasnt here today - she's actually my favourite of the lot but dont tell Maddy that
We relate to each other a lot, but i haven't heard anything in a while not even rumours
Maybe shes in rehab again?

I could feel Nate glaring at me from across the room, but im sure that he was just looking at Maddy and im just overthinking like always. So Ignored it and drank my apple juice.

It was finally time to leave and go home, so i said bye to everyone when Tyler messaged me

Tyler: im going home with Nat today so Nate will take you home, that okay?
Was that okay?! It was not okay.
At least hes sorting things out with natalia, I actually love her but they always break up and get together again so i never know where they are standing
Me: yeah sure, tell Nat i said hi!

Nate was leaning on my locker looking unamused at whatever was on his phone
He looked up from his phone and looked down at me.
"You ready Ava?"
"Yeah"
We walked over to his car and he played some music on his radio

"So Ava? How was your first day as a sophomore"
"Yeah it was alright, nice seeing everyone after the summer break"
"I can imagine, no one heard a word from you and rue."
"Really? Oh.. my bad?" I think back and realise, I haven't really been on my phone a lot this summer.
I just wasnt up for people asking me how have i been or what have i been doing because the sad reality was that i was just lay in bed watching grays anatomy or sleeping, i always get depression in the summer but its not that deep, its just some thing that happens to everyone - or at least thats what ive assumed

"I'm so sure shes dead or something, some thing isn't right with that girl"
"I'm sure she will be in tomorrow or something."
"Yeah" Nate says

We arrive to my house and i start to unbuckle my seatbelt when I hear the engine turn off and he unbuckles his seat belt too
"Oh are you coming in?"
"Yeah Tyler asked me to stay for a few hours, i think hes going to be sleeping over at natalias again or at least he will be there till late"
Oh?? OH
"Oh okay yeah that sounds like him"

We sit down on the couch and my cat Kat come over to me and Nate, she starts head butting us both for cuddles
Me and Kat named my cat when we was younger, she suggested as a joke that it should be called Kat and i guess the name stuck and we never bothered to change it.
I put on Grays Anatomy and leave the room to get changed

I wear my Nike pros and an over sized jumper, my favourite chilling clothes
I spray some Bare Vanilla Victoria secret spray and head downstairs, Stanley cup in hand
Nate is just scrolling through instagram on his phone, not noticing my reappearance

He looks weirdly angelic, his brown hair looks thrown about likes he has just came back from a long day
And he's getting ready to unwind - yet in an even weirder way he looks perfect.
His eyes are a dark brown, yet in the sunlight they look like a shade of caramel.
His jawline looks so sharp when he's looking down and you can see some of his muscles showing through his sweatshirt.

I snap out of my thoughts and clear my throat and thoughts.
He looks up in my direction, he looks a bit surprised of shocked
He probably didn't even realise i left: he slowly looked me up and down and went back to looking at his phone.
This is all so confusing

I sit down at the other end of the couch and Nate starts asking me questions
"So, did you get any homework or?.."
"Nate, what the fuck? We have been friends for god-knows how long and your trying to make small talk?"
We both laugh
"Ahaha sorry Ava, i just haven't seen you all summer. It feels like i hardly know you anymore"
Ouch.

"Oh ahah well it's alright, what do you want to watch?"
"Umm i dont know, i cant even fucking think." Nate groans
He runs his hands down his face and messes up his hair
Oh my god

"Ava im so hungry, what do you want to order?"
Shit.
"Umm i dont know im not hungry"
"But you didn't eat at lunch?"
"Yea i did Nate. How would you know" I casually laugh to hide my lie
"Never mind, im feeling canes or Taco Bell?"
So he was looking at me during lunch, damnn

"Right okay yeah, my moms working late so she left some money on the side for food"
"Well which do you want?"
"Ummm maybe canes.."
"Okay! Good choice Ava." He smiled at me with his thumbs up
I just look at him and burst out laughing
"Whaaaattttt????" He laughs along

The Raising canes arrives and he digs in to the food
Some canes sauce fell down his lips and he moved it with his thumb.
He is unreal - im sure im dreaming

"Ava? Ava? AVA"
"Shit yeah sorry"
I got lost in my thoughts, oh my god thats embarrassing
I look at the grays anatomy and put my arms around my waist
"I was asking you if you want some?"
"Nah ill have some later"
I look at the time on my phone '8.24pm'
Damn

We end up watching grays anatomy till late.
I must of fallen asleep on the couch because when i wake up,
I'm in Nate's arms??
Wait what?
He's carrying me up the stairs and my heads resting on his chest
I can basically feel all the muscles, hes carrying me like i weigh nothing.
Im dreaming, surely.

He drops me off in bed and covers me with my blankets
Im so cozy i start drifting off again
That's when he gives me a kiss on my head.
My heart literally melts
