We finally arrive at the hospital and I hand over the baby to his mother. He got whiny during the drive here and I tried my very best to pacify him, but I suck at this. Thankfully, Lara was in a much better mood and she found a playmate in him.
"Doctor Jeon will see you in a minute," A nurse tells us as we sit at the waiting area.
"Thank you," I smiled at her.
A phone rings and Jeonghan's wife or girlfriend or maybe fiance hands over her son, who has gotten whiny again to Jeonghan before excusing herself to take the call.
I am able to ignore the fact that Jeonghan is seated right next to me for a couple of seconds because Lara keeps pointing to her now hurting ankle.
"I'll have to take Mr Smiggles home. We just wanted to make a quick dash to the store to grab a few things but we've overstayed and he's due for a diaper change and some food," She says as she walks back to us.
"Oh, sure. Thank you so much and I'm really sorry for the trouble," I apologize. My hands are outstretched as she gestures for a hug.
"It's no problem at all,"
"The diver is waiting outside". Jeonghan says. It's the first thing he's voicing since we got here.
Ok. . . So Jeonghan is staying back? With me? With us?
She picks up her bag from the chair, says a few sweet motherly words to Lara before walking out with Jeonghan who has a son in his hands. I watch them stroll out and my heart beats in a funny way. They look so good together.
I can never have that.
I sigh and turn my attention to Lara. Some things can never be. I can't even imagine or wish for them to come to life. Some of us are meant to live and die alone. I'm more than grateful that I even have Lara with me now, it might have been worse.
The same nurse calls us and leads us into a rather large room where Doctor Jeon is waiting with the brightest smile on his face.
"Well hello there little one...." He gestures for Lara to be handed over to him and she immediately follows.
That's new. I was expecting some resistance.
"You got a boo boo? I'm here to make it all better. Why don't you watch your friend, Doc McStuffins while I have a look at your leg" He says to Lara and she responds with a quick nod, quickly turning to the television.
Jeonghan walks in at the same time and sits next to me, typing something on his phone.
"You kids are about to fill the entire company with kids. This one looks like her mother. I love the fact that I don't only have to attend to native babies from your team. This would be my first international Seventeen baby......."
